Popjustice is starting to get quite predictable. Before clicking on Song Of The Day history thing, I knew that Taio Cruz - Break Your Heart would be one. It is helpful and does have some superb discoveries from time to time.

Waterloo for Numayania XX :kink:

Not the Abba 'Waterloo' :P

I love Beat Control. I suppose it is a little old but I can't see it making any difference. I imagine that more people know it than you think though.

The songs on their myspace are pretty amazing. Has anything leaked in full yet? :o

bjscxx?

ooh.

maybezzz.

I know it's a bit 2008 for some people in the competition, but it seems like only the indie crowd will really know about it.

If you did enter this you'd be well on the way to getting to the top of my voting history (where I always thought you should be!) after these next two contests...

Really? I know it was released in the UK with a bit of hype, but I dunno much about the charts so I don't really know how it ended up doing. ;o I think Beat Control went to like #77 or something. :( So low for such a good song.

I like being at the top of your voting history Mark :snif: I find it odd that Rontvia is at the table of the history of an 'alternative country' such as yours!

yeah it flopped :( I like it, it made my top 40 but I'm over it now so I probably wouldn't end up voting for it...

I imagine you'll still be there for quite some time. 23 point lead and 29 over Mdice. I've voted Rontvia in 10/12 possible contest so it's unlikely you won't add to your total, providing you qualify anyway! And what you said kind of backs up my point, I never imagined I'd like your entries quite so much, I'd always thought someone like Mdice or Nonsuch (also massive underperformers for my votes) would be further up than they are.

But Daisy & Tilly are

I can't see Mdice sending Tilly...

something with winner written all over it will leak before next month...Beat Control is a low top ten at the very best due to it's age...I would have given it 8 or 10 points a year ago but I'm bored of it now

OMG TILLY'S SO 2000-AND-LATE BEN.

And you know you'll never send it  Something that actually stands a chance of doing well always comes up :P

I considered using it a year ago after it peaked well inside my Personal Chart Top 10, and is one of my lengthy stockpile of 25/30 songs I've considered but not used in this contest. Whilst if the song that was top of my stockpile, which I used in this contest flops, then I'm unlikely to go further into my stockpile other than for one or two of the non UK/US releases in it.

Is it a requirement that I have to send something new and upcoming every single contest? :/ I mean, I like to keep updated on new music, but it's not like I sit here for hours looking for the new and greatest thing. I don't send songs to win; I send my recent obsessions / songs that I love. And I happen to love Beat Control atm. ;o It seems like I have extra high expectations just because I've won six times. :P I don't mind lower top 10 whatsoever as long as I introduced someone to a song or made someone love it even more.

I'm sure a lot of people have heard Beat Control. ;o But there are a lot of casual BJSC-ers who may have not. Of course it's not 100% what I'm sending, way too early to decide that. I was just pondering a possible entry.

Am I the only one who doesn't get 'bored' with music? Seriosuly, if someone sent Daniel by Bat for Lashes to the next contest, I'd still give it my twelve because I adore it. Or if someone sent one of my favorite songs of 2008 / 07 / 06...they'd all still get incredibly high pointage from me. A song doesn't get more points from me simply because it's a recent song.

Edit: I've found another song I might enter. ;o Way more unknown. Mdice might go dance this time.

I personally tend to award songs points based on that snapshot in time and how much I'm liking/obsessed with a song at the time of voting...if somebody sent one of my favourite songs of 2008 now, let's say for example Jordin Sparks/Chris Brown's No Air, I almost certainly wouldn't give it a 12 as although I'm not bored of it as such, it would seem pointless to me as I don't really listen to the song much these days...I usually give my 12 to songs that have been introduced to me via the contest, they don't necessarily have to be new songs but they are more often than not new to me, i.e. the Nena/Kim Wilde track that was from 2003 but one which I'd never heard until it was sent to BJSC which got my 12

Seems no, but they seem like the non cheap version of Alphabeat to me :kink:

WHY CAN'T PEOPLE PUT FULL SONGS ON THEIR FRICKING MYSPACES :arrr:

Not necessarily new and current, but THIS:

Let's not forget how much one ADORED Margaret Berger and that was from 2006...

You are not the only one. :D

I don't understand how it matters if the song is from 1978, 1995 or 2009. If it's a good song, I vote for it.

Tbh if it's from 1978 I'll probably love it more :kink:

Alrighty, so I still have a lot of songs I'm deciding between (yes, Beat Control is still one :P), but everyday this song is looking more and more like my next entry:

Going for contrast here. ;o From the simple Daisy Dares You to the epic dance-y Beep My Beep. Oomph pls.

Other possibilities are:

Ellie Goulding - Starry Eyed

Tilly and the Wall - Beat Control

Bat for Lashes - Sleep Alone

Amanda Blank - Might Like You Better

The Sound of Arrows - Into the Clouds

I wanted The Sound of Arrows again :snif:

for an act to have represented both Rontvia and Mdice though, would be a first I think :o
