Posted May 12, 200817 yr Will probably be able to think of some more later, but here are the 4 that stand out to be the most at this present time, Torres - Without a doubt the signing of the season for me, and that's not me just being biased. The lad is absolute quality. I was very sceptical when Liverpool signed him as I was unsure as to whether he'd succed in the Premier League and Liverpool played a lot for him and he'd been linked with all the top clubs before, but none of them had taken a chance with them. They must be kicking themselves now. :P Santa Cruz - Again an absolute steal for Blackburn. He's scored what 20 goals this season? And Blackburn payed pennies for him compared to what other clubs have forked out on strikers. Will be the signing of the season for Blackburn if they manage to keep hold of him in the summer! Sagna - I liked Eboue for Arsenal, but Sagna has been brilliant for Arsenal this season. Arsenal payed something like 6 million for him and Chelsea have payed over 16 million for Bosingwa, and I think Sagna is a much better player from what i've seen. Anderson - Again has been excellent for Man Utd this season (can't say the same about Nani, he shows glimpses of promise, but he still lacks something imo) shall definitely become a more regular feature in the squad next season. Anyone elses opinions?
May 12, 200817 yr Agree with them, I would add : Elano Jonathan Woodgate - Been an absolute bloody rock for us ^_^

May 12, 200817 yr Personally I wouldn't put Anderson anywhere near being the singing of the season. Nearly £20m worth of attacking midfielder for a total of zero goals and one assist. He may have played well but he needs far more of an end product than that! Loads of better signings than him, my team would be; Gordon Sagna Jagielka Distin Hreidarsson Elano Muntari Palacios Petrov Torres Santa Cruz Notable mentions to Yakubu, Tuncay and Jones. May 12, 200817 yr Worst signings: Caroll Ivanovic Davis Todd Cacapa Routledge Savage Smith Seol Nugent Bent I know I could've included the likes of Sidwell, Ben Haim, Voronin etc but I didn't see the point as they were free and only ever going to be used as back-ups...
May 12, 200817 yr Gordon has been pretty rubbish for the most expensive goalkeeper in Britain. I would say Santa Cruz as the best player price wise and Torres being the best new signing.
May 12, 200817 yr Gordon has been pretty rubbish for the most expensive goalkeeper in Britain. I would say Santa Cruz as the best player price wise and Torres being the best new signing. But Gordon has to be in the team because no other goalkeepers have been signed apart from Roy Carroll and Scott Carson who was only on loan and I didn't include any loan signings...
May 12, 200817 yr But Gordon has to be in the team because no other goalkeepers have been signed apart from Roy Carroll and Scott Carson who was only on loan and I didn't include any loan signings... Oh right, I only read your list and not the post about it being a team. What about Joe Hart, or was he already at City?
May 12, 200817 yr Tim Howard as his permanent transfer only went through in the summer :P (anything to stop us having Craig Gordon )
May 12, 200817 yr It wasn't. He signed last January. That's why there was a huge furore (sp) when he didn't play against Man Utd last season and his back-up made a mistake or two.

Worst signing of the season definitely goes to Nugent. Biggest waste of money ever for Pompey. Savage and Todd were also extremely bad signings too.

That's why there was a huge furore (sp) when he didn't play against Man Utd last season and his back-up made a mistake or two. nope :P he signed in February (on the day of luuuurve) and that should have made the loan clause on him disappear, but for whatever reason it didn't seem to, even though United and Everton both said he was free to play  http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ton/6362649.stm
May 12, 200817 yr he was only on loan last season though, his contract didn't start to the summer. I'll be damned if Gordon is going to get best GK signing, when he's been well not very good.
May 13, 200817 yr I'll be damned if Gordon is going to get best GK signing, when he's been well not very good. I'd take Gordon over Tim Howard any day. He had a shaky start, but the defence in front of him at the time were atrocious.
May 14, 200817 yr Defoe, Santa Cruz, Bullard, Lassana Diarra and Tevez. I take it you are talking about Diarra's move to Arse rather than Pompey?
May 14, 200817 yr Nugent :heehee: Bent And to think Tottenham had to pay £500K more than Barcelona paid - the previous day - for Thierry Henry.
