hey so i've actually just recently started branching out and listening to "world" music. and i have to say, even though I can't always understand the lyrics (i only speak english!), I really am liking it, espeically Bïa (she's from Brazil I think). A friend from work actually gave me a CD of hers that I started listening to and her voice is just beautiful. i find her music to be very relaxing to just mellow out to. I'm thinking of picking up her new CD which i heard is coming out by the end of the month. but anywaysss...i'm actually curious to know how many people out there are into this type of music since I only just started listening to it.

I've not come across Bïa - but i do like a lot of Brazilian music forms - you might like to have a look around this website for releases - they do an Andy Votel mix cd which is supposed to be very good...

...tho i think its more psycadelic funk-rock than samba or bossa that will be on here also you might like to investigate Tropicalia recordings and stuff by Caetano Veloso, Os Mutantes and Gilberto Gil tho if you want an easy point of entry Bebel Gilberto and Smoke City/Zeep are excellent statr off points and of course there is always CSS and Bonde Do Role
