Music Managers Forum performance, UK

Last night saw Will attending and performing at the Music Managers' Forum.

He performed two of his favourite standards, 'Is You Is Or Is You Ain’t My Baby?' and 'Summertime' in honour of his manager, Simon Fuller who was there to receive the Peter Grant Award which honoured his achievement in management. It was presented by fellow 19 Entertainment artist Annie Lennox.

Check the media today to see what happened. Meanwhile, the MMF seeks to raise professional standards in management. It also helps its members develop management skills and knowledge of the music industry.

Thanks to Rosie omn O/S . Wonder if he sang "him" or "her" I was wondering if he'd sing the RS songs.

Fuller leads winners at MMF Roll of Honour

00:01 | Thursday May 15, 2008

By Paul Williams

Prince Charles and Gordon Brown led the tributes last night as Simon Fuller picked up the Peter Grant Award for outstanding artist management at the MMF Roll of Honour.

The pair were part of a star-studded video montage to the 19 Entertainment CEO with tributes also coming in from Bono, David Beckham, Cathy Dennis, Paul Hardcastle, three of the Spice Girls, Chris Morrison and Will Young who opened the ceremony at the Intercontinental Hotel on London's Park Lane with two songs. Annie Lennox, who has been managed by Fuller for 19 years, handed him the award.

MMF chairman Summers, who won the award himself in 2003, said, “We are delighted that Simon Fuller has agreed to accept our highest honour. His considerable achievements over 20 years cannot be underestimated.”

Ian McAndrew and Geoff Barradale were named managers of the year for their work with Arctic Monkeys and Reverend and the Makers, while Sharleen Spiteri handed Bernard Butler the producer of the year award in recognition of his work with the 1990’s, Cajun Dance Party, Black Kids and Duffy who has the biggest-selling single and album of the year to date in the UK with, respectively, Mercy and Rockferry.

Geffen Records’ US-based head Ron Fair, who worked in London in the 1980s and has helped to launch the careers of a number of UK acts in the States, was inducted into the MMF Roll of Honour. He was joined by MMF co-founder Dennis Muirhead, who was the organisation’s first chairman, and MMF director of copyright and contracts and Howard Jones’ manager David Stopps.

The Nettwerk Group’s CEO Terry McBride, whose company’s roster includes Dido, Avril Lavigne and Stereophonics, was named international manager of the year, while Radiohead’s commercial arm Sandbag won the newly-introduced innovation of the year award for its work on the band’s In Rainbows album.

Lucky you lot seeing him live at RS. The last time I saw Will live was in 2005 at the MetroArena Newcastle, when he was a dot on the horizon. http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/sad025.gif

Anyway thanks for bringing the info over munchkin.

Yes it was TT. :D If Will does an arena tour next time, hopefully I shall get a better seat, and one where my neighbours don't try and nick my programme that I paid £10 (?) for, and when challenged said "We didn't realise it belonged to anybody"!!
