Not quite the reaction you wanted Gill, was it. He is right to be upset, he is clearly the biggest solo UK male at the moment. Broken Strings is still doing good bussiness on a global scale. None of the other males that were nominated had any where near his success this year.

 

Perhaps it should be pointed out to 'woodlands' that Broken Strings wasn't even released at the time of the voting and Will's album was 100,000 sales ahead of James and the others didn't even feature in the top charts. James may well be doing ok now but he wasn't at the time. The awards are supposed to be given on the past year's achievements not what they may be doing in the future. On those facts alone Will should have won it. :cool:

Ahh but you are only comparing the sales of Morrisson's sceond album to what Will did in the same time period. I think you are maybe forgetting that over the same time period between Nov 2007 to Nov 2008 Morrisson's first album sold in excess of 1.2 million copies world wide. So in terms of sales I can see why he would be dissapointed.

 

But James won Best Male for his first album in 2007 you can't use sales of the first album as a valid argument for getting another BM award in 2009 no matter how much it sells later.

I agree . But once woodlands got involved it started the ball rolling. Maybe he too should not have got involved, especially wtih such a weak argument :P I notice Marguerite has replied to him with the comment I made about the album.

 

That's the trouble with the Brits they change the criteria goalposts every year. Leona's fans were disappointed that she wasn't nominated but she just didn't qualify for an award other than the public vote one for her single.

Well he's done everything he can possibly do to generate interest - aside from TV ads, which I think at this stage is unlikely, he has sold enough to secure his advance for #5, which I should think must be the last of his contract.

There are about 10 new entries expected tomorrow in the album charts ...so LIG is probably going to drop quite a bit. i hope it can stay top 40 :)

 

I'm expecting a drop too which is a shame as I would have loved it to be on display in the supermarkets in the lead up to Mother's Day.

 

Still as munchkin says he's sold enough to guarantee a 5th album not many modern pop artists achieve that.

Well, I would actually agree with him on that, looking purely at Will's album sales (without comparing to other artists). Let It Go may not reach double platinum. That would make it his lowest selling album to date. In theory you could say Will's success, figure-wise, has been declining after Friday's Child. Thank goodness he's still selling well enough to warrant a 5th album.

But this person isn't referring to just Will's record sales - which we have all acknowledged are in decline - they are talking about his career. No one has referred to some of the once-high selling bands/singers careers being in decline just because they are selling less. As you say he's actually sold enough to get his advance for the next album.

I wish Pumpkin/ hayley/katie/tingtong/make my day/lostthewilltolive/kate/melle193 [ she admited to these identities *Amanda looks like her latest incarnation, the same phrase's and wording in all her identities, i was right about all her other identities and *Amanda* posts exactly the same] would get lost on DS 95 posts and they are all her ranting on about Will she is seriously demented...her massive amount of identities all over the net is frankly embarrassing :rolleyes: i have no problem with someone not liking Will and posting their thoughts, but she just comes out with wild conspiracy theories and venom just for the sole purpose of upsetting other fans...she must spend hours scouring the net looking for info on an artist she detests :blink: she has not been the same since Ronan flopped, she started to get really negative and vocal when Will was made the headline at the princes trust concert and the further Ronan as fell the worse she gets about Will :wacko:
