When I went to collect my laptop today after they wiped everything off :( and reloaded Vista, I was talking to the technician and she said that Vista is known for this, that there is often a problem loading microsoft updates and the best thing is to set the computer so it doesnt download them! She said you were best to copy the harddrive image as soon as you got the computer so you could reload it yourself if it wouldnt start properly rather than having to pay for it paying.

 

I would have preferred XP too phil, never had any problems with that. No wonder they soon moved on to Windows 7. :angry:

 

It's an absolute pain starting with an empty computer, I haven't even got the screen resolution or fonts set right yet!

May i ask where you took it? and why should you have to set up that by yourself, i hope it wasnt pc world as they have terrible cust serv, i have island computers, they have been very good to me, and they would have never have left me with stuff to set up like that, it would have all have been done for me.

 

if Vista has a known prob, why are we paying??? ugh thanks Ros but it gets my goat

I'm just whinging cos it's just laborious setting everything up again really. For some reason Buzzjack pages are coming out really tiny yet I've increased font sizes etc as much as I can, in fact some others are too big!

 

I've only sorted email, internet, printer, McAfee, loaded a few choice websites and about 5 of my contacts so far! When I bought this laptop it had Vista and Windows 7 was due to come onstream about 6 months later. Part of the package was a free upgrade but it felt risky upgrading a whole operating system so I never bothered, and now the offer has expired so I'd have to pay.

 

oh Ros so annoying, why have they left you with all that to set up which seems a bit difficult :o :angry: barstewards ugh

Good evening everyone :D

finally made it on here today.

Well what an exciting day ive had, :rolleyes:

been in the garden all day chopping stuff down, went to hack back the irises in the fish pond to find a lovely black and yellow spider, :unsure: like those September spiders it was about 1 1/2 inches diameter, ewww just a different colour.

 

Then i went to chop back my out of control rose on the fence, by now i have a blister on my thumb that had popped :blink: after hacking for about an hour i spotted a birds nest, it was in the thick of it all, so i carried on hacking it down, next i know the birds nest was on my head :lol: it wasnt just grassy stuff it had a load of dried mud to keep it all together, so what was in it? a bird..no! an egg... no!.... bloody woodlice... yes :wacko: so now if you get the picture, i have a grass hat, mud in every oriface inc my ears, and bloody woodlice in my bra and inside my vest top, should have videoed it and sent it to youve been framed.

 

oh and i forgot i also got poked in the eye with a dead bit of rose so hard that it pulled my lower eyelid down :lol:

and someone called me today, someone not a million miles away, to ask if ive had a good day, first i said dont ask :lol: and proceeded to tell of my escapades, when i said i had to get my loppers out (you must know whats coming) :lol: Bev said "what about Winston?" my neighbour... im thinking, huh i didnt cut any of his plants down... "fancy getting your loppers out in the garden poor Winston" i then had a coughing laughing fit and nearly wee'd meself :wacko: :heehee: :no:
