Anyone remember them from 68-69, they had a few hits, 3 in the top 10 and a number 1 "Everlasting Love". I think their singles were great around that time. Talk about OTT production. Controversy ensued when the group admitted they had not played on the record, but that all the work was done by session musicians, although such a practice had long since been common - and has continued ever since.

Love Affair sold more singles in 1968 in the UK than any other band, except for The Beatles.

to me... everyone was a winner! top class pop act who id rate as my favourite group from 68-9. as no other act had 5 excellant singles in those two years. if all manufactured pop was like that i wouldnt complain!

I think that Steve Ellis was only 17 when they had their No.1 with their

Cover of Robert Knight's 'Everlasting Love'. Steve had a fantastic

voice for a boy of that age.

I far prefer their version to the Robert Knight original, which was a No.13

USA Hit in 1967. Sadly, Love Affair's version is virtually unknown in the USA.

Americans hear it on YouTube, & all those who do so, say they think it is

great.

Apart from the 4 videos posted they just had one other hit.

One Road peaking at #16 in 1969 - it was actually a ballad

Robert Knight's original version of Everlasting Love peaked at #40 in January 1968

It did however reach #19 on re-issue in 1974. He also recorded Rainbow Valley.

i bet his second release was on the back of that awful #10 'love on a mountain top' :puke2:

He did however have a US hit with a brilliant ballad called Isn't It Lonely Together.

It's about a couple who have only just got married because they are about to have a baby wished they hadn't as they have nothing in common.

Back then it was shameful on the family to have a baby and not be married.
