May 20, 200817 yr Is that it PiP....a few more details would be good....there's nothing on Rachels site and I've even phoned Meg....not in
May 20, 200817 yr Author well, matthew seemed to be in agreement with Darius on things a lot, Darius read out some headlines - killer mice on some island, some girl pushed out of a window by some other girls, talked about the embryo, abortion thing - whther to have sex on a first date - Darius said no - he is such a gentleman....matthew mentioned the rave reviews D was getting as Rhett, darius said about the cost of the use of Franky..and actually added Frankly My Dear line in his lovely accent, which impressed Matthew. Darius was confused about the woman who was having hormone treatment to make her a "man"..and is pregnant(wondered where baby would come out he asked ) LOL matthew mentioned the honourary degree - Darius just said he had only completed was it two of the three years..so would like to complete his degree Edited May 20, 200817 yr by prettyinpink
May 20, 200817 yr thanks PiP My daughter caught it. This is what she said.... he was good... for some reason the subject of sex on a first date came up and he said that he was all 'old-fashioned' and had never done that. Then there was the matter of removing the need for the father's involvement in artificial insemination. He showed off his intelligence - which was good to see, although he didn't seem all that comfortable at times. I do enjoy watching him discuss other things for a change
May 20, 200817 yr He was dead against the combination of human and animal dna - and I'm with him on that one. I wasn't in Pam, because david re organised things and i was watching Darius at the Wright Stuff. It was very, vwery good. Makes me remember just how much fun that program is to take part in. It was really hard to stay quiet in this one - every subject made me want to argue. There was at least the same discussions in the intervals as in the program. He left before we did, so no pics.
May 20, 200817 yr Nina and I were very careful to chose where we sat and to also keep very quiet but, it was very hard. Darius has converted a few more people. He came over as very intelligent and good fun.
May 20, 200817 yr Some people (not Steph) find it hard to think someone is talented, good looking AND intelligent. Oh, and charming as well.
May 20, 200817 yr Author he was thoughtful and intelligent as usual, I like the way he added snippets of info at times too. I did get annoyed at the silly woman on the phone in saying "your man" and saying his (light hearted)comment about men being clinically proved to be necessary was rubbish - perhaps she was a clone??? but liked the will you marry me message, oh and that the show is now 2 hours 45 mins including the interval, but that he misses some of the cut bits! I do hope the bits I loved have not all been lost... Edited May 20, 200817 yr by prettyinpink
May 20, 200817 yr hey I got it typed and watched one I came in from college. I though Darius was great I liked that fact that he was allowed to share his thoughs and feelings on issues that were being spoken about. I cannot believe His cell phone Bill was $4000 OMG I would have flip out if that was me. Darius was talking about how some women went on hoilday and was using her mobile phone and it's unlimited download. she got a huge bill because of it, but what had happend was that she never knew that once outside of the UK her limited download was not contracted for that. So Darius said that the same thing happened to him, he was in Spain last year for two days and he went over his download limit. he got the bill and it was $4000, becasue he was using it in differnt countries. Then Matthew asked him "where you looking at porn"? Darius answerd "no the only thing near being pornograpth was a message I sent to my girlfriend saying I love you" aww how sweet! In the words of my college friend HOW RUDE!! of that woment saying "your man there" he has a name and it is DARIUS!!!! lovely interview well done Darius
May 20, 200817 yr A friend of mine spotted me in the back row. My hubby on the other hand mucked up the recording. Luckily my sister-in-law taped the show.
May 20, 200817 yr Great interview. Matthew gave Darius enough time to talk about GWTW and he was able to say they've cut the show in response to the criticism of its length, showed off his accent in the beginning of the famous phrase and Matthew mentioned that he'd got great reviews. The message about GWTW was positive and then Darius went on to take part in the panel discussions. IMHO today's subjects were not ones Darius would have chosen to talk about personally but he came over very well and I felt that he gave his honest opinions not what others might have wanted him to say. I loved the little quip when Matthew queried why the government werealways seeking more andmore of our personal information. As for the honorary degree, Darius had completed lower, higher and Junior Honours level and was mid-way through his final Senior Honours year when the PI final ten came along at Christmas. If Edinburgh exams are at similar times to Glasgow, during the final ten process when he couldn't go back to Edinburgh, he would have missed the class exams, success in which entitles one to sit the final degree exams that student year. Having achieved more than the equivalent of an Ordinary degree he would have been entitled to graduate in June 2002 but he was otherwise engaged and so his degree certificate would have been sent to him. Somewhere along the media/Chinese Whispers route, the degree he'd earned was called an honorary degree and other journalists regurgitated it and then accused Darius of lying, which the GBP swallowed hook line and sinker, as always.
May 20, 200817 yr In the words of my college friend HOW RUDE!! of that woment saying "your man there" he has a name and it is DARIUS!!!! That's a very Irish expression. My mother-in-law often used to say "your man"
May 20, 200817 yr I was about to post that. It's very prevalent in Northern Ireland. It's just an expression. There is absolutely no rudeness to it. It's used talking about friends, neighbours, acquaintances, anyone. I suppose it's what's called a term of endearment. I'll need to watch the show again. I didn't spot either you or megham. I wondered if you'd made it to the show at all. I'm glad you did.
May 20, 200817 yr We were trying to hiode. Obviously it's yet another thing I'm better at. I've always felt I'm an invisible person - now I know it has it's advantages.
May 20, 200817 yr The camera seemed to focus on a small section of the audience so we saw the reactions of the same half dozen or so people every time.
May 20, 200817 yr Lucky/Unlucky for you. I'llbet you couldn't hide from Darius though. Edited May 20, 200817 yr by Baytree
May 20, 200817 yr Lucky for us - we didn't want to be on TV - just wanted to watch. Funnily enough, Darius came over to say 'Hi' coming in and left with 'See you soon'
