June 12, 200817 yr Wow, that is expensive, more than my budget will allow at the moment, at least i have my £19.99 Elvis Ironing board. Me too :yahoo: Elvis '68 At 40 ''Vinyl 45'' possibly Sold Out?: The forthcoming vinyl 45 release Elvis '68 At 40 is sold out through JAT Productions based on pre-orders only. Featuring four "never released" commercials it may be possible to obtain a copy from your favorite dealer or any other carrying this product. EIN is not certain as to exactly how many of these vinyl $45s were even pressed. At US$19.95 it seems a high price to pay for four commercials. It will be released on July 4, 2008 and followed a month later or so by Steve Binder book Elvis - '68 At 40 Retrospective. (News; Source;JAT

June 29, 200817 yr It was Forty Years Ago Today!: :yahoo: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y48/elvis1959/68leather1.jpg On Saturday June 29th 1968 Elvis Presley taped the two "Stand Up" segments of the television special that would revitalise his career, emphasise his musical importance and once again rock the world. "Singer Presents Elvis" was a great moment in music, in television, and in the narrative of his own life -- a moment of change, when what was lost is found again. Elvis regained his voice -- and in so doing became at once who he was and who he would become. His singing still featured the excitement of youth but this time with a mature edge. He was 33 years old, lean and chiselled and -- what he had not seemed in years -- a little dangerous. The special begins in darkness, to the sound of a whomping, Muddy Waters-ish blues riff, and then a famous face fades in, turning toward the camera, filling the screen, meaning business. If you're looking for trouble You came to the right place If you're looking for trouble Just look right in my face I was born standing :yahoo: 'The Night Elvis Reclaimed His Crown' http://www.elvisinfonet.com/spotlight_thenight68.html The '68 Special - 40th Anniversary Celebration http://www.elvisinfonet.com/spotlight_68sp...nniversary.html "Elvis - Complete '68 Comeback Special" 4CD boxset http://www.elvisinfonet.com/cd_68boxset_2008.html (News, Source;EIN) Perfect excuse for a leather fest   :cheer: :yahoo: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y48/elvis1959/68E5.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y48/elvis1959/68leather2.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y48/elvis1959/68leather4.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y48/elvis1959/comeback2098.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y48/elvis1959/68c.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y48/elvis1959/onenight.jpg Can’t forget the white suit ;) http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y48/elvis1959/comeback2079.jpg Later, when reviewing the show, rock writer John Landau says: There is something magical about watching a man who has lost himself find his way back home...He sang with the kind of power people no longer expect from rock ‘n’ roll singers. Years later, rock writer Greil Marcus will remember it this way: "You can feel the shock waves the show made. Elvis looks gorgeous and he knows it; you see joy, command, and certain slyness with a you-must-be-kidding-me grin, which serves him perfectly. Wearing a black leather suit as if he was born in it - standing alone or sitting with Scotty Moore and his friends, Elvis sang his old songs, but they did not sound old. He invested them with so much emotion - emotions his original recordings of say, Tryin' to Get to You, One Night or Can't Help Falling in Love did not contain - that each became a thing in itself. Suddenly these were less songs then events, where Elvis himself is moved the most. When Elvis relaxes into the first of five dives of Baby, What you Want Me to Do, the deep well of the sessions where every few minutes Elvis returns for a more open rhythm, a harder beat and knowledge that cannot be put into words. He's locked into a music that any musician can tell you anyone can make and almost no one can, into something that is so powerful it doesn't seem real, reaching as if under the guitar for notes that cannot be advertised. The music rises, slams down, and rises again as if a whole new language has been discovered - as if this night, it has to be made to say everything, because it will never be spoken again." It was the finest music of his life. If ever there was music that bleeds, this was it. ‘’ Elvis, the 1968 TV special, is to become widely regarded as one of the truly great television moments in pop/rock music history. After this show everything changes for Elvis. He pours renewed creative energy into his recording work, is soon to wrap up his movie contract obligations and to return full-time to the concert stage, beginning a new and exciting era of his career. His superstardom is yet to reach its height. All I will say is it was Ultimate Elvis
