you know how the ting tings have all these references to Tom Tom Club, Talking Heads, Blondie, Bow Wow Wow in their reviews when reviewing their DIY-art-pop, disco-punk, punk-funk stuff - and that fellow electro-pop band Hot Chip are seens to be a bit like Devo - do you think we should start using a categorization along the lines of 'the Nu-Wave of New Wave" or "the New Wave of Old New Wave" or the "nu-Rave of the New Wave of New Wave" do you think people just love their multi-hyphenates too much when pigeonholing acts???

New wave of new wave has already been coined to describe the likes of S*M*A*S*H, Elastica, These Animal Men etc. who were recycling old punk and post-punk riffs in the early 90s.

Well i noticed that genre definition was used in a Plan B article about Riot Grrrl just before was gonna write this so that why i didnt use 'New wave of new wave' - tho would Riot Grrrl be used to today as a 'shorthand' for a scene or would it just be put down as some thing like Angry-Girl-Rock
