The UK, Germany, France, & Spain give the most Cash to the ESC.

That is why all 4 of us are allowed to enter every Year - even when we finish last.

I would like the UK to leave the Contest - and the other 3 Countries too.

Let those Countries that want it pay more for it - or let the whole out-dated

heap of c**p collapse - AMEN!

why do you watch eurovision if you hate it so much. And if you hate it so much why do u even bother to aknoledge it exsists by commenting on it?

The big 4 countries are most likely to be extended to the big 5

Martyn - I watch the VOTING - only. To see if it is as stupid, silly, useless,

& laughable, as each previous Year - in recent Years

I am not a Christian or Muslim either, but - elsewhere - I comment on those

Religions.

We are are ALL entitled to comment on whatever we like.

If I want people to suggest whether or not I ought to comment on

this or that subject I will move to North Korea, Iran, or China.....People can

be told what they can say in those Countries!

I am a BIG Fan of the OLD days of the ESC. Alas, the days when the UK

was 1st on 5 occasions, & 2nd on 15 occasions are 100% over - the way

the Voting works will always be against us. Terry Wogan can see this.....

Rabbitfurcoat - I am a member of 4 Internet Chart Forums. I am as entitled

to be here as you are. Even though you may like the current ESC set up,

& I see it as time to pull out.....

So basically you're jealous?

And how ON EARTH can you make any kind of informed comment if you've only watched the voting? If you don';t know what the songs sounded like how can you tell if the votes are biased or not! No wonder you think the UK should've done well in the last 5 years, Christ!

You mean those days when we sent music that was indicitive of both Eurovision and the UK in general?

In this years top 10 there's nothing that's anything like our past 6 entries. Therefore, presumably, thats not the sort of song (which we insist on sending knowing full well it will bomb) which will do well.

Oh, wait. It won't because it's camp and everyone knows that's what does WELL in Eurovision in 2008!! Silly me!!

Look through the charts - there's nothing popular in the UK resembling 'Even If' or 'Flying The Flag' (and certainally none of it is sung by X Factor runners up) - so not only are we sending a song which isn't typical of a successful Eurovision entry, it's not even an example of a successful song within the UK!! We did well 20 years ago, because we send songs indicitive of Eurovision and British music. Now we don't, and we don't do well. 2 + 2 = 4.

It's incredulous that people think songs like Even If stand a chance against bloody good songs such as Secret Combination and Believe.

Rabbitfurcoat - the UK would have to be insane to keep paying cash

into something that we can never Win again - due to the Voting.

I am not 'jealous' at all.

There is no sense in the UK wasting cash on the ESC - end of story.

I am sure that France, Germany, & Spain will pull out eventually -

and take their cash with them.

Let Scandinavia, & the former Countries, that were in Yugoslavia, & the

USSR pay for it!!!!!

Oh - and Andrewy - I have't thought much of ANY of our UK Entries for Years.

Would 'Mercy', by Duffy have done well for us? Who knows. I LOVE 'Mercy',

& so does Europe - but, would it have got ESC Votes - enough to Win -

or to finish in the final 10?

Again - who knows?

I just see the Contest as dated, & meaningless now - many in the UK do.....

Rabbitfurcoat - WHERE in ANY of my replies have I said that the UK should have

done well in recent Years? I HAVE said that we have little chance to do well.

I AM saying that the Voting is AGAINST the UK now - whether we send weak

Entries in, OR strong Entries.

Read what I SAY - NOT what you THINK I am saying!!!!!

i fully agree with zeuss here.

terry wogan also made referance to 'western europes' chances last night too.... its not only the uk that has no chance, but most of western europe too.

its become a complete joke when you KNOW before they are announced just who will give who the maximum points. i think it possibly is more down to neighbourly taste then something more political but all the same... whats the point? does anyone actually believe that all the eastern europeans will prefr an icelandic song, an irish song, a frech, german, spanish let alone british to one of theres?... nah

let them pay, theres little point in us competeing unless we employ an imigrant polish act to perform for us!!!

Strewth, I thought you had more sense...... But obviously not.

Until 2 years ago I firmly belonged to the Terry Wogan Euro-sceptic viewpoint of the competition.

But last year I was persuaded by members of this site and forum to actually LISTEN to the entries and work out which was the best songs. So I listened I actually listened to the songs and predicted the correct winner by Serbia, and my other top 3 predictions finished 2nd & 4th.

This year my prediction was:

For the hell of it, here is my prediction:

1. Ukraine

2. Russia

3. Greece

4. Armenia

5. Serbia

6. Georgia

7. Sweden

8. Turkey

9. Norway

10. Latvia :puke2:

11. Portugal

12. Bosnia-Herzegovina

13. Romania

14. Denmark

15. Israel

16. Poland

17. Finland

18. Croatia

19. Iceland

20. Azerbaijan

21. Albania

22. France

23. Spain

24. UK

25. Germany

And here are the actual results:

Final results

Russia 272

Ukraine 230

Greece 218

Armenia 199

Norway 182

Serbia 160

Turkey 138

Azerbaijan 132

Israel 124

Bosnia-Herzegovina 110

Georgia 83

Latvia 83

Portugal 69

Iceland 64

Denmark 60

Spain 55

Albania 55

Sweden 47

France 47

Romania 45

Croatia 44

Finland 35

Germany 14

Poland 14

United Kingdom 14

.... So by listening to the songs I could work out which songs were better and which were not, and it was pretty clear that all of the Big Four entries were awful with the exception of France. But at least the Spanish entry was #1 on their iTunes in stark contrast to the borefest that was the UK's entry.

.... The one thing I do think is wrong with the competition is allowing the losing semi final nations to vote in the Final. But if that did happen last night then the Final results at the top would be unchanged, but the UK & Germany would have ended up with a richly deserved Nil points each.

Four of the Top 10 aint in "Eastern Europe" (whatever that means anyway Post-Soviet Union... -_- ) anyway, and about four of the bottom 10 are... So, the proof aint even there to suggest that it's all an "Eastern Europe" love-fest......

People like Wogan p!ss me off tbh... Actually LISTEN to the sh!te we send as our entries..... If people in this country cant even be bothered to support our entry in the i-Tunes chart, what the hell does that say.....? Oh, yes, it says that our entry is an UTTER LOAD OF SH1TE THAT DESERVED TO COME LAST..... We've deserved to come in the bottom five for a considerably long time now, because we don't put in any effort anymore....
