May 21, 200817 yr I'd say Israel got the jury vote, or maybe Finland actually. Romania were without a doubt the public vote and I wouldn't be surprised if they won the semi. It has a broad appeal. I'm quite shocked not many people saw it getting through last night. I always saw it as a guaranteed qualifier, I would say fingers crossed the same people vote for Paolo tomorrow but of course it will be completely different countries voting!
May 21, 200817 yr Author Another couple of things too... WTF was Zeljko wearing on his feet at the beginning last night? They looked like a cheap pair of Adidas trainers or something. Looked totally hideous anyway. And LOL at the woman presenter doing a "grin-ran-room" (green room) like Marie N in 2003. I actually LOLed at that. :heehee: Why do foreigners apparently find it so difficult to say green room?! :heehee:
May 21, 200817 yr Why do foreigners apparently find it so difficult to say green room?! :heehee: because english isnt there first language
May 21, 200817 yr Author Oh and I didn't think much to the graphics last night either, especially the ones which introduced the songs. Looked very 1997 tbh... And as for those postcards, supposed to be "making the country's flag"... it certainly didn't match up to the UK's 1998 flag making in our postcards. And one more thing, those messages that were appearing on screen were impossible to read half the time because they were written in white, and we had a white background. :manson: Definately not up to standards on that front in comparison to the past few years imo.
May 21, 200817 yr Author because english isnt there first language Yes but they manage just about every other word!
May 21, 200817 yr I think it's generally bad for ESC (which stands for European SHOW contest) when there are no surprises and everything is so predictable. Except Finland, we all knew the rest. I don't think there'll be surprises in the second semi, nor in the final. And that is bad. Very BAD. It proves the contest has gone totally wrong with all the bland songs and distorted voting system.

May 21, 200817 yr Author Last year's was pretty predictable. I was shocked at Armenia coming top ten and Turkey fourth, and Latvia flopping was a bit of a shock, but other than that I wasn't too surprised at the outcome.
May 21, 200817 yr there are always surprises...Lordi was a huge surprise winner in 2006, I don't think many people expected Armenia to finish top ten on both years!
May 21, 200817 yr They were robbed in 2006 in my opinion. (Follow My Heart = ) They were - despite not being able to choose a song without having a paddy (whoever thought the Montenegrins would vote for the Montenegrin act?), they were able to vote. Had they not been allowed to, Poland - not FYR Macedonia - would have been in the Final. And it probably would have done better as well. PS - Strange as it may sound, I reckon Finland was the jury's choice.
May 21, 200817 yr Ireland came 12th in the semi. So near. :P Where have the results been released? :o

I think Israel, Norway and Poland still prove it's a SONG contest, and prove that not everything is so predictable - Israel, Azerbaijan and Poland were definitely NOT favourites to get through, and Ireland and Estonia flopping go to show that it isn't a SHOW contest at all otherwise they'd have won by miles! The contest has gotten back onto the right track this year!

That really was one bizarre idea too many of Svante Stockselius.
May 21, 200817 yr Last year's was pretty predictable. Yeah, and last year was the most criticized one, the same I say.
May 21, 200817 yr Where have the results been released? :o On the radio this morning, they had been told that Ireland came 12th.
May 21, 200817 yr The results aren't released until Saturday night/Sunday morning - wouldn't telling Irish radio the results give it away just a little bit given how technically savvy the Irish are? The results would be all over ESCToday by now! :P
