The only thing about Eurovision that needs changing is the voting. Only finalists should vote ffs. Totally illogical for countries who aren't in it to be voting, it really is.

I can't agree more. That's how it should be.

oh please, Sloevnia made it only last year :P

get ur record straight :P

but for some will always be blame the east

Yes, I knew that, my point was that Slovenia made it last year solely by neighbouring votes and Macedonia has qualified every single time and every time by those same neighbouring votes. If I remember correctly Macedonia has never made it into top ten in the final which means that neighbouring votes can take you far but not that far if the song is c**p.

And yes, I do blame the diaspora (from Eastern Europeans living in West) for screwing up ESC. But this two semifinal thing with only participating countries allowed to vote is a good step towards right direction and actually if this year only the 25 finalist would be allowed to vote in the final and a Eastern European country would win I wouldn't be blaming anyone, then it would have been fair game and fair victory for Eastern European country. Now it won't be.

Apparently at the EBU press conference, they were discussing having all of the countries voting in the final, and there is no plan to change it. Some "we are family" nonsense means that everyone will continue to vote in the final. :manson:

They also discussed the BBC and the United Kingdom, and apparently the EBU wouldn't be too bothered should Wogan retire, and there was a comment suggesting that the Brits should stop moaning about results and send a decent song! I'm getting all of this from the AKOE blog btw.

The big four situation is also under review... but I can't see that changing anytime soon - there'd be outcry if any of the big four didn't make the final. Anyone remember Germany 1996?

I've just been listening to Terry Wogan jovially slagging off Eurovision on Radio 2's Steve Wright in the afternoon show. In particular criticising the people who take it seriously as a proper contest.....

He said that if our (Andy Abraham's) entry fails to finish in the Top 10, then that is proof of bias against the UK.

I love how everyone is so deluded this year thinking we deserve a top 10 finish. Admittedly it's in my top 10 songs in the final, but I don't think it will be in the top 10 this year. I think it's too much like a regular song to do well in Eurovision.

If we were in another decade, like the 70s or something, I can understand there being questions of bias against us if we failed to finish top 10.

What bollocks. He's such a fool. :arrr: There was a time when we took it seriously too... In fact even in 1997 we took it pretty seriously, and Wogan's commentary differs so greatly to what it is now. He was so enthusiastic. Time for him to move on.
