Lead singer of The Specials Terry Hall has revealed that the group are to reunite for a tour this autumn.

Hall told Billboard that, after "five years of reservations", the original lineup will come together for the first time in 25 years.

"We've been trying to do it for five years, but we solved those problems and hopefully got over them," Hall said. "Seven 50-year-old men together in a room is not very pleasant, no matter who you are. But we're getting on great and that's all you can hope for, really."

Hall added that the band will only play smaller venues in the UK.

"That's the kind of venue where we started," he explained. "I don't like arena dates, at all. They're just soulless. The very nature of this band, we shouldn't go and play sit-down theatres. It would just be weird. I think we should carry on where we left off."

The ska group's hits include 'Ghost Town', 'Gangsters' and 'A Message To You, Rudy'.

Are you pleased with this news, or are you thinking who??

Actaully I was reading an old Songlines yesterday and someone was asking if Terry Hall was gonna follow up his album with Mushtaq called The Hour of Two Lights but there was nothing skedded on Honest Jons as Hall was just doing the Guilty Pleasures Dj thing - tho a potential reunion was mentioned.

As for the reunion - dont know what to think - I like Ska music but I guess I'm more likely to play the original Trojan stuff than 2 Tone so im not like someone who would have grown up in that 2 tone era that it would be really important to them - and i guess its only gonna be a reunion to play the hits not like the Madness reunion(s)...and releasing some good new music (tho I guess people who bought the last Specials album - the one on Ali Campbell's label - are thinking this might be a good thing?!?!?)

and also there is the thought that maybe Hall should be doing more Nearly God/Hour of Two Lights kinda stuff than this - tho a lightning seeds / terry hall tour would be good

...or on a smaller budget how about a Suggs/Terry Hall - Guilty Pleasures / Night Fever show down at the Dublin Castle

altogether.... oh Cecilia, you’re breaking my heart, you’re shaking my confidence daily....

btw shouldnt the Specials be on at mandella's concert???
