Seeing as ABBA are widely regarded as the best

'Pure Pop' Group of all time, I thought that I

would Link to a Clip that they made for the

2004 Eurovision Song Contest Semi Finals.

It has never been shown on UK TV. I thought I'd

add it here, seeing as the Eurovision Song Contest

is on Saturday, & ABBA were the biggest Act to

come from it. (Celine Dion too - she Won in 1988).

It later came out on DVD as, 'The Last Video'.

In the Video, ABBA are Mini PUPPETS, who go for a

Record Company Audition in 1974 - as ABBA.

Much of the dialogue is from ABBA Song Titles

& Lyrics - hence why it sounds so odd.

All 4 Real members of ABBA are in it - Agnetha & Frida appear at an

'Observation Window' - as do Cher, & 'Eddie'- Iron Maiden's 'Mascot'.

UK Comedian Rik Mayall is the Record Company Manager.

I think that it is very good, & very amusing:,

this was actually shown on UK TV... I remember Channel 4 showed it at the time. It's a bit of a cop-out, really.... who wants to see ugly puppets?

The real ABBA would rather that 'Ugly Puppets' were shown than themselves

Singing, as they are now. Which is why Puppets were made for the Video.

They think that they are 'Too old' to Sing - Madonna is roughly the same age as

some of ABBA - imagine if SHE had the 'Too old' attitude?!

I missed Channel 4 showing it - I assumed it was not shown on UK TV, with

the BBC ignoring it, & it being the UK's ESC Channel. (Thanks for correcting me,

Russt68).

it's a shame they think like that - Agnetha's still a very striking lady, and Frida looks better than ever these days.

I really admire how they've held back from reforming, though - they've been offered ridiculous amounts to reconvene but have always said no - you really have to admire them for that I think.

I remember seeing that video on a BBC2 TOTP2 Eurovision special either in 2005 or 2006.

I admire how ABBA never reformed, but as their 1970s Rock equivalent Led Zeppelin have just done so to universally rave reviews, then what about a one off charity gig performance, and while at it reclaim "I Know Him So Well" for the Agnetha & Frida duet it was always meant to be.....

have to admit, I thought it was a pretty awful cheesefest of a song whoever sang it..... Chess really was a shocking project, I thought.

I actually have that video on a dvd included in a boxset of their complete studio recordings....it's a hoot, I think, and I like it a lot...I also give props for their moxie to not reform, either...

The shots in the lift were taken from ABBA the Movie & actors were used as they came out of it.

Agnetha & Frida were filmed seperately at the window & superimposed to look as if they were together.

I found out today that the ESC Semi Finals ARE shown on UK TV!

They are shown on BBC3 - which I never, ever watch. It only has

about a 1.7% to 1.9% UK TV Audience share.

Anyhow, it means that the ABBA Video WAS shown on UK TV, as it

was the 'Interval Piece' in the 2004 ESC Semi Finals.

Unfortunately, less than 1,800,000 people in the UK watched the 2004

Semis - as opposed to about 10 Million who watched the Finals on BBC1.
