Meet the best new band of 2006... from Hollywood, California – Orson. Playing what their singer Jason Pebworth calls simply - "two-guitar power-pop", or, equally simply, "rock and roll that girls can dance to", Orson have already clocked up a Number 1 single with their debut single, 'No Tomorrow', earlier in the year.

'Bright Idea', their debut album, consists of mostly songs about girls, about falling in or falling out of love. They form what is essentially a diary of Jason's own love life. "I torture myself over lyrics", he says. "Ultimately, the best stuff, the funniest lines, come out of the most heartbreaking times". With influences as far ranging as Queen and Led Zeppelin, to Radiohead, Flaming Lips and Elvis Costello, Orson's sound is not easy to pigeonhole, but is undeniably recognised as the kind of radio-friendly infectiousness that proved successful for Maroon 5. - HMV

I dunno whether to get this as there are some albums from bands that I prefer more than Orson out soon.

The advert is awful: "Britan's New Favourite Band" is what t he voice over person keeps saying.

I bought it today, it has alot of potential to be good. First impressions, the singles are the best and a fair few tracks are growers!
Orson are supporting Robbie on Tour (just confirmed). I may need to buy their album.

You should mary, I think its good so far!

I very nearly saw Orson before Christmas when they were supporting Duran Duran. But I couldn't coax my buddies out of the pub in time so I missed them.

I won't make the same mistake this time. :cheer:

i saw orson last night at a free concert where i live and they were amazing im going to buy the album!

I think I may be the only person in the country who think Orson are totally dull, uninspired and generic.

Booooring.

Their singles have been great so far, still in two minds in purchasing at the moment, there are other potential new albums from The Feeling and Keane in the next fortnite, that I want, so I might just wait to get their album, when its gets cheaper

I'm not liking them much either, they seem like a half-arsed Maroon 5 knock-off to me. I quite liked 'No Tomorrow', but it wasn't anything awe-inspiring. 'Bright Idea' is one of my worst songs so far this year.

But I suppose I need to give the album a try before I make a proper judgement.

I loved No Tomorrow, but Bright Idea was just a poor rewrite of the Beatles Sgt Peppers....track/McCartney song - It's Getting Better.
maybe they should have been moved to the songwriter section instead if you didnt want them in indieville as they look like disco dancing grandads at an R&B night now

Well they're not indie or even rock in any way so the pop forum was the best place I thought ;) it kinda annoyed me when I went to a rock night at a club the other day and Bright Idea came on. -_-

Their music reminds me of Maroon 5 as well.

I've downloaded the album off Limewire and like it. It is quite samey though and they do sound very similar to Maroon 5 -_-
