Posted May 24, 200817 yr What with the Eurovision final tonight (and also the 50 years of Bossa Nova concerts that are gonna take place)...i thought it was a good time to pay tribute to a influencial producer who could be seen as 'The Most important Serbian artist ever'...well that is if you like electronica and 'World'/Brazillian Music... Suba http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/53/Saopauloconfessions.jpg Even though some 'World music' fans may think the First Wave of the New Wave (Bossa Nova) artists of the late 50s/early 60s and Tropicalismo artists are more imporatant in the history of Brazillian music, think Suba has to be given credit for that whole electronic bossa nova (electrobossa) vibe of artists like Bebel Gilberto and Cibelle, and the reimergence of that style after many years of loooking like second to more funk and rock based styles. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/ab/Serbia_Novi_Sad.png from myspace: Serbian-born musician/composer SUBA (Mitar Subotić) was about to become one of Brazil's most prominent producers when he tragically passed away in November 1999. Suba left us just a few days after the release of his now-legendary album "SAO PAULO CONFESSIONS" (probably the most inspired album of electronic music to have come out of Brazil), and shortly before the completion of Bebel Gilberto's "Tanto Tempo" album, which was graced by his outstanding production work. 3 years later, his label Ziriguiboom/Crammed and his closest musical associates (vocalists Cibelle, Taciana, Kátia B and percussionist João Parahyba, with the help of young Brazilian producers such as Apollo Nove and BiD) have prepared a tribute album (entitled "TRIBUTO") comprising new tracks, posthumous collaborations, remixes and live recordings http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/f5/Bebel_Gilberto_-_Tanto_Tempo.jpg
