the big 4 have a disadvnatage to be fair ,all the other songs get aired twice where the big 4 only get a full hearing once,all bug 4 all had bad songs this year but that aside as much as they gain by having a definite place each year they lose at the same time

What a terrible winner, his song was average, he was OVERLY big headed, and he couldn't sing in tune! He only won due to being known around europe/ releasing songs there and also due to political voting, if it wasn't for political voting he wouldn't be that high up. I think western countries need to say that they are going to pull out unless something is done about the voting system... id be happy for the uk to leave and we just watch the show and pay no money... andy deserved to come last but fantastic songs such as sweden and iceland were robbed... you know where the votes are going to go before the announcers says them! It would have been so much nicer to see greece or armenia, even bloody ukraine fight off russia at the end... eurovision in russia is sooo wrong, the don't even like gays! Imo Armenia/Iceland/Greece/Sweden/Norway should have been top 5, maybe not in that order.

I disagree about Russia, I liked the song a lot, but I absolutely agree about Sweden and Iceland. Sweden, Iceland, Greece, Russia and Ukraine should have been the top 5 for me (also not in the order).

 

Personally I thought it was a great night - all of the songs I was backing did well, with the exception of Sweden and Iceland. All the countries I didn't want to do well didn't, except B&H.

It's not. Don't believe want ever Terry Wogan tells you. Some countries have similar taste in music because they listen to the same music, in some cases the same media. It's not political, the better songs do better. The UK sent rubbish this year. It deserved it's poor placing.

IF THEY DIDENT BUY THERE WAY IN NO MATTER WERE THEY COME IN THE VOTING , THEY WOULD HAVE TO QUAILFY, THEN IF THEY MADE IT TO THE FINAL YOU WOULD HAVE HEARD IT TWICE, YOU CANT HAVE YOUR CAKE AND EAT IT .

 

i didnt see the appeal of russia myself it didnt stand out at all so im surprised by how well it done but on saying that i thought the same about serbia last year and now i love the song and i loved the way she performed it tonight on the opening of the show

so do you agree it should be a level playing field so to speak if you do bad in the final you go to the semi for the following year.

 

As it stands, the UK pay a lot of money to not achieve much. Paying a lot and not even making the final would be a real slap in the face, and funding would be pulled and the ESC would collapse, and I don't want that to happen. So, right now, as it stands, those who pay thousands towards the contest deserve a final place just for getting the whole thing going ahead. I don't see that as the Big Four 'buying their way in' because, lets face it, without it, Eurovision wouldn't happen. I'd be saying that whether I was from one of those countries or not for the reason I've already said. If Serbia was one of the main financial contributers towards to competition and lost out at semi's, they would pull their money and the whole contest would fall flat.

 

It seems to me that it would be fairer not to have a Big Four at all, and each country who wishes to compete should put some money into it. If the current Big Four paid the same amount as everyone else, I'd be more than happy for us to go into Semi's. At least maybe that'd be more of a wake-up call about the sort of song we need to even make it into the finals of Eurovision!

They chose it by theirselves, so there's no disadvantage at ALL. If they had good songs... Everything is in their hands.

Oh lets face it ... they were all c**p! Would any of you buy one of these songs - because I wouldn't - the last Eurovision song I bought I think was Abba's Waterloo. I'd say abandon the stupid competition but for the fact that the voting part is compulsive viewing.
