Posted May 24, 200817 yr YOU ARE IDIOTS!!!!! Every year you spoil this competition. It's all supposed to be a bit of fun so why can't you just vote for your favourite song? Is it really so hard to do you morons? I am from the UK and personally thought the UK entry was rubbish but still The Irish gave us a big score just because they are near us. WHY??????? Aren't you capable of just voting for the best song?? God you make my blood boil. The same applies to virtually every other country. Why are you so stupid? Vote for your favourite! DO YOU UNDERSTAND?? What's the point in having the competition at all if you ignore the songs? Please Please explain I really want to know your reasons. Message to moderator- I am sure I have broken loads of your rules but I think my comments are valid and I have avoided using the language I wanted to.
May 24, 200817 yr Some of it is neighbouring countries voting yes, but you have to also note that neighbouring countries also share similar music tastes aswell. Ireland voted for UK probably because they had seen him on the X Factor anyway, so thats not really a valid example of neighbourly voting.

So shut up with that nonsense that everybody is an idiot. Ireland and the UK have the same musical style. It happens across Europe. Nothing we can do about it.
May 24, 200817 yr The winning song got votes from 95% of the countries. Worthy winner - deal with it.
May 24, 200817 yr Yeah, the top 5 & winner all completely sucked as pieces of music, I quite agree. And while we're on it, why wasn't that damn puppet there, he'd really have livened up Belgrade.
May 24, 200817 yr Author Waterloo, YOU are the idiot. Please explain. Why I am an idiot? I don't care who wins as long as everyone votes for their favourite song. I believe the UK was c**p but that's my personal opinion and irrelevant to my objection on how people vote. Maybe Russia would have won anyway (I have no problem with Russia winning) but the whole competition just feels tarnished. As for similar tastes in music of neighbouring countries I know that must happen a bit but not to the extreme extent of the votes. Waiting for your reply RabbitFurCoat. If you're a political voter please give your reasons.
May 24, 200817 yr uk get some votes from ireland as alot of english live here and they vote for their own country likewise with latvia and poland

If you're a political voter please give your reasons. I've made many points as to why I don't believe political voting doens't make a difference, it's just people believeing the, quite frankly wrong, opinions of the likes of Terry Wogan and the Bizzare editor of The Sun. I have a theory that the best song always wins, that's why in the last 14 years we've had 14 different winners. If political voting actually had that much of an effect, surely it'd be the same few countries winning again and again, maybe with the odd anomoly thrown in. Austra, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Malta, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland and Holland ALL voted for Serbia in their top 3 last year, were these 'political' votes? Did they vote for them because they're neighbours? The simple truth is no, they voted because the song was good and had mass appeal. The wiining song gets points from the majority of countries. Ok, so there is always going to be politcal or neighbourly voting, and countries like Serbia and Russia aren't likely to finish outside the top 8, but the reason why so many Eastern countries do well, is because they take it seriously, here in the West, they see Eurovision as a bit of light-hearted fun, a bit of a joke. As a result, the entrants we have are always seen in the same way, a joke. A lot of countries send some of their most successful and talented acts, when was the last time we did that? When have we sent a Mika? Or a Girls Aloud? Or a Morrissey? Never. The last two years we've sent an X-Factor reject and a group who's career and style of music were flushed down the toilet nearly a decade ago!
May 25, 200817 yr if you don't like it, don't watch it! end off! though I predicted 90% of the top points :kink: still it's ESC :smoke:
May 25, 200817 yr It's not even the neighbourly votes that p*** me off the most tbh, it's the immigration vote. :arrr: See I think it's more diaspora voting that makes the Eurovision so predictable, rather than neighbours. Here... United Kingdom > Greece, Turkey, Poland, Latvia Ireland > Latvia, Lithuania, Poland Portugal > Romania, Ukraine Spain > Romania Netherlands > Armenia, Turkey France > Armenia, Turkey, Israel, Portugal Belgium > Armenia, Turkey Germany > Turkey Denmark > Bosnia-Herzegovina Greece > Albania And that's the way the votes are gonna be for the forseeable future. :( Neighbourly votes were a little more spread tonight - I noticed Croatia only getting small votes from the Balkan countries and Sweden didn't get too many from the Nordic ones.
May 25, 200817 yr Switzerland to Portugal is mostly immigration too. Although this year we did get more votes from other countries so it helped to disguise this fact
May 25, 200817 yr just look at the map and u will understand that every country supported their neighbour. its foolishness not to understand it! ofcourse there were the times when other countries supported Russia too, the eurovision wouldnot be justice if this not were, but the eurovision defect is what i told above! oh Armenia was 4th because of lobbi and diaspora in the whole world! but as u saw Azerbaijan small country, but became 8th! if Azerbaijan had such lobbi and diaspora, then they would win or be second! anyway, im satisfied with results exept Armenia's place!

You see, the ridiculous point here is, that we from Eastern/Balkan region, who benefit the most from such voting, understand and clearly admit that, while UK people still think it's all fair and voting is ok.
May 25, 200817 yr just look at the map and u will understand that every country supported their neighbour. its foolishness not to understand it! That's true, but it would be foolish to conclude that it's 'political'. It's not political at all, it's because people in neighbouring countries are exposed to the same type of music and often exposed repeatably to the neighbours entry as well.
