May 25, 200817 yr That's true, but it would be foolish to conclude that it's 'political'. It's not political at all, it's because people in neighbouring countries are exposed to the same type of music and often exposed repeatably to the neighbours entry as well. That's another joke. Portugal's song this year was similar to "Molitva", yet it didn't gain anything.
May 25, 200817 yr The thing is, countries would actually have heard of some singers for other countries if they're so close. I mean if Ireland sent U2 you could be sure the Uk was going to give us 12 points because they're already popular in the uk aswell. Plus you have simalar musical tastes too. We don't really understand it as much since Ireland and the uk only really have each other. (since french artists don't really make it big here)
