It would be better for the finalists to have voted, instead of all 43 countries, at least that way they can announce all the points, instead of announcing just the top 3 points.

the interesting thing would be to see what the results would be like if only Western countries voted

Aye it would. :o I might try and work that out!

Hmm...

This was how I did it last year to seperate Europe, funny that the top 2 were the same...

Ok, here is MY analysis.

I've seperated Europe into two parts. One part containing all the Baltic & Former Soviet states and the other containing the rest of Europe.

This is how the REST OF EUROPE voted.

This includes votes from Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Turkey & UK.

I have discounted votes from Albania, Armenia, Belarus, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Macedonia, Georgia, Hungary, Latvia, Moldova, Lithuania, Montenegro, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia & Ukraine. The results table would look like this...

You should also add countries like Greece and Cyprus from the South, they're in no way linked to Russia are they>

Greece are a bit iffy tbh. They always vote for Albania and Bulgaria. I should've included Israel though, they always seem to vote for the songs.

To be honest I've only really watched Eurovision the last three years. All I see is people moaning about political (Bloc) voting and voting for their neighbours. It's mainly the countries in the east, but only certain ones, the Baltics and the Balkans, the former Yugoslav countries and the former Soviet countries. As far as I'm aware the likes of Greece, Turkey and Cyprus have always been apart from those? They certainly are geographically. The same with Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. They're more tied in with the likes of Austria or Germany than anywhere the other side...

That's awful for Portugal! :o

If finalists only voted, the result would have been the same. The problem is not the number of countries voting in the final, but number of Russia/Greece/ Ukraine/ Turkey/Armenia/ Serbia supporters, who will be the same even if you make only 10 countries vote. That's because those country have most neighbours/diasporra.

Only solution is adding jury to the televotes, and setting a ratio of 50/50 or 70/30 to the results.

you say about most neighbours well germany hould have had way more then cozthey are bordered by about 7 o r 8 countrys and theyy were down the bottom

You get what I mean, don't you? Germany's neighbours are not the same ethnic/cultural group.

When I say "neighbours", I don't mean actual ones. Rather "friends".

I'm struggling to understand what Bulgaria were thinking yesterday evening...did viewers get a prize if they voted for Germany :heehee:
