Simon Fuller is this week claiming the greatest domination by any artist manager in the history of Billboard’s Hot 100 with his acts occupying 17 slots on the chart.

The 19 Entertainment founder overtakes the previous record of 14 set in 1964 by Beatles manager Brian Epstein largely thanks to the latest American Idol winner David Cook and runner-up David Archuleta who between them clock up a record 14 new entries on this week’s chart.

Their showing is led by Cook debuting at number three with The Time Of My Life, one of 11 tracks by the singer on the chart. The recording also tops the Hot Digital and Hot Digital Tracks charts, which 19 Entertainment says takes to 179 the total of number ones achieved by American Idol contestants. This run began in October 2002 when the show’s inaugural winner Kelly Clarkson reached number one with A Moment Like This.

Archuleta’s three songs on the Hot 100 are headed by a cover of John Lennon’s Imagine, which enters at 36.

Fuller’s tally on the Hot 100 is taken up to 17 by his act Jordin Sparks’ duet with Chris Brown, No Air, sitting at number five, Carrie Underwood’s Last Name climbing 37-19 and Daughtry’s Feels Like Tonight.

Epstein achieved his tally of 14 simultaneous hits on the chart in April 1964, all Beatles songs and led by Can’t Buy Me Love at number one.
