Bulgaria starts choosing for ESC2009 on Thursday!!!!! The standard in their heats isnt the best as they allow EVERY song submitted to be performed.

The first semi heat begins then, and one of the songs "I won" is a bit prophetic isnt it ;)

I wonder if we are participating in 2009. We have been very quiet... TBH, I kinda hope we don't participate in 2009.

Lithuania 2006 ring any bells?

RTÉ Radio One just had a piece about Eurovision. There is going to be another EBU meeting in December and that will finalize the jury plan. I really hope it's a 50:50 ratio of votes.

I can't wait for it......... hope Britain do well this time. After all, they did abnormally well in this year's dance contest!

I like Hadise. They have to choose a good song though, but Turkey always do pretty well lately. Really excited about the Finnish selection myself, Waldos People and Jari Sillanpaa are amazing

"How Do You Solve a problem like Eurovision?"

Invite Graham Norton along, because THAT'S the right thing to do isn't it? :D

Oooh that starts mid Feb :cheer: :w00t:

Can't wait for that - earliest UK selection for years. I hope next year they go all out and have a proper Melodifestivalen type competition though. Guess it depends on how we do this year!

Its going to be shown as 6 to 8 weekly episodes on BBC1 every Saturday evening, that's why its starting early so by the time, the final week is upon us, it be roughly the same time in March early April.

Oh yeah I thought I heard that. Dead excited anyway :)

We'd better participate :arrr: and come up with something better than the last two entries :(

I hope the UK has a return to form too.

I think it's pretty much guaranteed with ALW at the helm, but will Europe vote for it?

Nah it's earlier than that. Premliminary dates are currently the 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th of January with the final being on the 31st. ^_^

LOL. Well, apparently, RTÉ can't do a "big selection process like last year due to the economic crisis" - Hardly "big"... It was in a room in UL! So I think they're going back to the "Pat The Blank Late Late Selection". One artist, Four songs, a few millennia of embarrassment.

Damnit. Apart from the wrong winner, the Irish show was great last year. Rumour has it though, that that "one artist" will be Johnny Logan... :o

Mr. Eurovision?! :o That's a guaranteed winner, then. :kink:
