Now now, there's no need to bring The Dreg Who Must Not Be Named into this. I know she needs all the promo she can get but Katharine is a finer specimen altogether.

She is rather alike to Emma Watson in that photo though :heehee:

I ADORE McPhee. I actually thought her album was pretty solid overall... Over It, Love Story, Dangerous, Open Toes, Everywhere I Go were sublime to name a few.

Hardly. Katherine is the one who needs promo, hence my cynicism with this nicely timed new hairdo to get people talking about her.

So basically people aren't allowed to change their hair if releasing music? And don't people dye their hair specifically to attract comments? If you're gonna hate at least be a little creative with it. Don't hate on a BLONDE HAIRDO, that's the ultimate cliche!

And if we're being arsey about this, Pixie does need all the promo she can get. Her label virtually bought her buzz with 'Mama Do' which is why it was such a success (although for a #1 the sales are less than impressive). 'Boys And Girls' is about 50x worse so she's basically wankered.

Um no, I never said that. People can change their hair all they want but I am perfectly entitled to comment if I feel it was done in a blatant attempt to get people to talk about them. You're acting like my opinion is totally not plausible at all when we all know image is a big factor (Rihanna springs to mind.)

Katharine's debut album tanked (one of the lowest selling albums by a former Idol contestant ever, even less than Taylor Hicks who everyone said robbed her of victory!) so now it is totally understandable that she would try something different. I just think it's quite sad she thinks she needs to cut her hair and dye it blonde to get some promo. Fair do's to her though as it's succeeded and she has been all over the blogs.

Bought her buzz how so? They sent it to radio, she got airplay, enough of the public liked it and she got to #1. Boys and Girls might be worse in your opinion but lets see how it performs.

Actually 'Katharine McPhee' sold 375,000 copies which doesn't make it even close to being one of the smallest-selling albums by an Idol contest. Some such as Paris Bennett's didn't even chart and other's by the likes of Mandisa have yet to scrape 100k. 375k is actually impressive when you consider that she had one hit single and radio completely refused to play her second.

Either way there's a huge difference between being desperate and reinventing yourself. Dyeing her hair blonde is clever, not desperate. Would Madonna still be a huge-seller today if she had never reinvented herself? And having dark, blonde and red hair has been a part of that.

And Pixie's label I believe payed off radio to gain her that airplay but I can't prove it on here so that'll have to remain a matter of opinion.

... Just like so many artists labels do, the only reason you're making an example of Pixie is purely out of personal dislike. Oh, and 'Boys And Girls' >>>> 'Mama Do' by about a million times.

Just so I stay on topic... I liked a few from Katharine's debut album, 'Over It' was so brilliant. I'll keep an eye out for this. ^_^

You're probably right Aly. It is difficult to put aside a personal dislike for somebody so repulsive.

'Over It' doesn't have jack on 'Dangerous', 'Open Toes', 'Not Ur Girl' or 'Love Story'!

First off, re-check your facts.

Second off since when is cutting and dying your hair a "drastic measure".
