Come Back isn't exactly an INCREDIBLE song, just better than the rest of the UK's recent output...in the grand scheme of UK music, its not that great is it!?! Jessica sung it amazingly well though :D

love Carola and Anjeza and I agree, Vanilla Ninja were incredible and should have won...their album Blue Tattoo which features Cool Vibes is amaze too  Anna Vissi was so dire, like something from the Nancy show...it's Eurovision not the west end dear :heehee:

Ah, the last year where winning was actually a very realistic hope :( Unfortunately the Israeli trannytastic fem-anthem trashed Imaani, but this slice of contemporary soul really was a fantastic entry ^_^ That's how you do it Andy :smoke:

27: Israel 2008 - Bo'az Ma'uda - The Fire In Your Eyes // 9th; 124 points

The first time I heard this, the oddness of Bo'az's voice really did grate on me, although after time I did actually begin to love this track  A flawless performance which earned a rightful top 10 place (which I can accept seeing as this year's top 5 was amazing), Bo'az's voice actually made this song in the end! ^_^ And he didn't look too bad either :naughty:

26: France 2005 - Ortal - Chacun Pense A Soi // 23rd; 11 points

To this day, I have not been able to figure out why this flopped when it had everything going for it. Fantastic position, decent performance, good looking performer, great modern pop...what went wrong? The only thing I can think of may possibly have been that it was in French or that I'm severly overestimating the quality of the performance...this was robbed of top 10 that year in my opinion :( An English version wouldn't have sounded out of place in the top 40!

25: Ukraine 2006 - Tina Karol - Show Me Your Love // 7th; 145 points

In all honesty, I can't figure out why this wasn't a favourite before the contest! Perky, catchy ethno-pop, it's a shock it didn't finish higher! Deserved to beat that c**p from Lithuania at least...-_-

Jessica Garlick is a tad too low Tyron. :( Glad Eurobandið are there too. :D

Catchiest thing ever muchhh? This grew on me like an aggressive cancer a couple of weeks before the contest, and I still think it should've been the general anthem for Strictly Come Dancing/Eurovision Dance Contest -_- The performance did lack a certain something though :(

21: Turkey 2003 - Sertab Erener - Every Way That I Can // 1st; 167 points

It still surprises me today that this won, especially after being drawn to perform 4th! :o An outstanding performance put that performing slot disadvantage to shame, and I can't help but feel that without the performing position the end result would've been nowhere near as nail-biting! Fantastic track which really is the perfect hybrid of ethnopop

Onto the top 20 :w00t:

20: Ukraine 2004 - Ruslana - Wild Dances // 1st; 280 points

Ahahahaha! :heehee: Such energy from Ruslana, and you can't beat a bit of Xena-themed performance :kink: This fantastic track won me over with its infectiousness and more than deserved its victory, although there are still 2 other songs from that year that I prefer...

19: Greece 2001 - Antique - Die For You // 3rd; 147 points

And here we have the second artist which appears twice in this list! The artist in question being a much younger and far bigger-nosed Elena Paparizou...also looking slightly less attractive :( She's clearly had surgery since :smoke: Anyway, this wonderful precursor to Elena's later work was just one of 2001's many fantastic entries, although there is still another yet to come :heehee: Realistically though, this really should've won! :(

18: France 1991 - Amina - C'est le Dernier Qui a Parle Qui a Raison // 2nd; 146 points

This so deserved to beat Carola, and is probably the best entry the French have or will ever send :( The sound that she makes in the chorus is just spine-tingling  I do believe it's also possibly notable as the first properly ethnic song given Amina's Tunisian heritage :o

17: Germany 2003 - Lou - Let's Get Happy! // 11th; 53 points

Oh God, this must be one of my ultimate guilty pleasures :blush: This uber-cheesefest sadly missed out on top 10 that year, and really does set records for campness :heehee: I mean come on, look at the lyric "Let's get happy and let's be gay" - you can't tell me that was intended in the original sense of the word in this of all songs!

16: Sweden 2008 - Charlotte Perrelli - Hero // 18th; 47 points

Oh Charlotte, where did it all go wrong? :( Why couldn't you nail the performance - why was the performance so ridiculously understated for such a great song? :(

If history were written properly, she'd have won in 1999 with this and come 18th in 2008 with Take Me To Your Heaven tbh :smoke:

15: Belgium 2006 - Kate Ryan - Je T'Adore // 12th (semi); 69 points

OK, even two years after this happened...HOW THE F*** DID THIS MISS OUT ON QUALIFICATION? The performance was great, the song was quite simply divine, the choreography was good, the performer was dishy...unlike France 2005, I can't actually think of any reason at all for this not qualifying
