July 27, 200816 yr Author March of Dimes set for sale http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y48/elvis1959/MARCHOFDIMES1.jpg The huge March of Dimes records (16 inch each) will probably always be "The Holy Grail" of their collection. Once in a while a single 16 inch disc turns up, but it's only once in so many years that the complete set is offered, with the original cue sheets. The set was mailed out to a select number of radiostations to promote the 1957 March of Dimes campaign, but DJ's were also asked to destroy the records after they had been played on the air. A few copies survived, and even fewer complete sets survived. If you're missing this set in your record collection, and have some money left... here's your chance. Minimum bid is 2500 $US. http://cgi.ebay.com/ELVIS-PRESLEY-MARCH-OF...p3286.m14.l1318 Published: July 27th 2008 09:00 PM. Source: eBay / Published by: ElvisMatters - Peter Verbruggen .

August 14, 200816 yr Author Elvis Palm Springs Home On The Market http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y48/elvis1959/palmsprings.jpg Some names add cachet to a house years after they have moved on. Elvis Presley definitely falls into that category. Now his Palm Springs home, basically his "Graceland West" is up for sale in a pocket. The home is located in the foothills of the San Jacinto Mountains in Palm Springs. Elvis lived in the home for almost eight years (he purchased it in 1970) and spent his last birthday there. The approximately 5,000 square foot home has four bedrooms. Architect Albert Frey designed the Spanish-style stucco home which includes Presley's bedroom suite with two complete bathrooms, a sunken black and red tile tub, and dressing area. The living room has a cathedral beamed ceiling and overlooks the pool. The home is being sold with Presley's original kitchen appliances, a separate indoor sauna and steam room, plus his private covered Jacuzzi. Just last year Reno Fontana and his wife, Laura bought the home and announced plans to restore it and offer it as a West Coast destination for Elvis fans. They also created a website dedicated to the home which does show a few interior pictures of the vintage decor and Elvis movie posters and gold records on the walls. The property is approximately two acres and is listed at $17 million. October 12, 200816 yr Author Sun acetate for sale :o Record collectors may just fall in love with this one: an original Sun acetate with the song "That's When Your Heartaches Begin", as offered on eBay. The highest bid so far, is less than 600 $US. This is the description: "Here offered is the 78rpm ACETATE single of: ELVIS PRESLEY on the SUN label.. The song title : THATS WHEN YOUR HEARTACHES BEGIN.Label is nice with slight yellow aging spots and has DJ writing on it "as seen in the pictures. The vinyl-shellac is NEAR MINT "few very very very minor surface storage scuffs" and plays beautiful..This is a MEGA RARE 50's Elvis Presley acetate from the Sun Studios and what is very interesting is that under the Sun label you can see some of the first label that was put on this acetate and then changed it & the Sun label was applied over it.The label underneath is "Memphis Recording Studio" and does have typed information on it that appears to have Elvis' name and same song title that is on the Sun label..The only reason I can come up with is that it is marked for Radio Play and that the Sun label was to be mentioned by the DJ instead of Memphis Recording Studio which was the pipeline to Sun Studio, which were basically the same I believe. Also to mention is that the version of the song on this acetate is shorter then the commercial release on the RCA label..I did not study this acetate to hear if there are any major vocal or music differences except noticing the shorter ending.I have owned this acetate for several years along with a few other same acetates with different artist.I have only seen a few of these early Sun & Memphis Recording Studio acetates through the years and to my knowledge only 1 has come up for auction on eBay a few years ago and sold for almost $5000.00 The only history I know of this acetate is that it was stored away at the Select-O-Hits warehouse and surfaced sometime in the late 60's and landed in a collectors hands who owned it until I purchased it..It has NEVER been offered for sale until now!! So here is your chance to obtain a rare piece of Rock-N-Roll history and most likely a one of a kind." http://cgi.ebay.com/Elvis-Presley-Acetate-...id=p3286.c0.m14 Published: October 12th 2008 03:19 PM. November 7, 200816 yr Author Elvis' Last Cadillac Seville Up For Auction http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y48/elvis1959/auction_cadillac_seville.jpg On eBay Australia you can bid on Elvis Presley's 1976 Cadillac Seville. From the auction: This is probably the last Cadillac that Elvis purchased! It is believed that Elvis bought more than 200 Cadillacs for himself, friends, family and strangers. This is your chance to own the last one that he purchased for himself in December 1976! As I understand it, this was a 1977 model Cadillac Seville which was sold to Elvis in December 1976 - date of manufacture is October 1976. Upon Elvis' untimely death in August 1977, this car was gifted (by Vernon Presley) to Ginger Alden - Elvis' fiance at the time. There are some great shots taken by fans of Elvis driving this car through the front gates of Graceland only two days before he passed away. This car is a fantastic piece of Rock and Roll and Elvis history! You will not be disappointed with this car when you sit inside it and feel the "spirit" of the King! The car is in good condition, but has some cosmetic wear and tear (as it was obviously driven as a day to day car by Ginger and others who owned it), and it runs well. It would need some restoration work done to it if it were to be used as a vehicle, but as a show piece, it is in great condition to display! November 28, 200816 yr Author Unique telegram for sale B) http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y48/elvis1959/telegram.jpg Look what we found on eBay… for 950 pounds (1150 euro), or best offer. After playing a show in Norfolk, VA on March 21, 1956, the Perkins Brothers Band headed for New York City and their appearance on the nationally broadcast Perry Como Show. Shortly before sunrise near Dover, Delaware Stuart Pinkham (aka Dick Stuart, and Poor Richard) assumed the duties as driver. After running head on into the back of a pickup truck, their car ended up in a ditch of water about a foot deep, and Carl was lying face down in the water. Drummer W.C. Holland rolled Carl over, saving him from drowning. Carl had suffered 3 fractured vertebrae in his neck, a severe concussion, a broken collar bone, and lacerations all over his body in the crash. Carl remained unconscious for an entire day. The driver of the pickup, Thomas Phillips, a forty year old farmer, died when he was thrown into the steering wheel of his pickupCarl's brother Jay had a fractured neck along with severe internal injuries. On March 23 Bill Black, Scotty Moore and D.J. Fontana visited Carl on their way to New York to appear with Elvis the next day. Bill Black told Carl, "Hey, man, Elvis sends his love", and lit a cigarette for him, in spite of the fact that the patient in the next bed was in an oxygen tent. A week later, Carl was given a telegram, which had actually arrvied on the 23rd, from Elvis wishing him a speedy recovery. Sam Philips had planned to surprise Perkins with a gold record during the Perry Como show. "Shoes" had already sold more than 500,000 copies by March 22. Now, while Carl recuperated from the accident, "Blue Suede Shoes" rose to number one on most pop, R&B, and country regional charts. It also held the number two positon on the Billboard Hot 100 and country charts. Elvis Presley's "Heartbreak Hotel" held the number one position on the pop and country charts, while "Shoes" did better than "Heartbreak" on the R&B charts. By Mid-April, more than one million copies of "Shoes" had been sold. On April 3, while still out of commission, but back in Jackson, Perkins would see his friend Elvis Presley perform "Blue Suede Shoes" on his first Milton Berle Show appearance. Presley performed the song on national television 3 times that year, and made references to it twice during an appearance on The Steve Allen Show. Although his version became more famous than Perkins', it only reached #20 on Billboard's pop chart. Here’s the description UNIQUE 'GET WELL' TELEGRAM FROM ELVIS TO CARL PERKINS THIS IS A SINGULARLY UNIQUE PIECE OF EARLY ROCK & ROLL HISTORY IN THE FORM OF A 'GET WELL' TELEGRAM FROM ELVIS PRESLEY TO CARL PERKINS AFTER PERKINS' ALMOST FATAL CAR ACCIDENT. December 8, 200816 yr Author Elvis Presley's 1962 Jetstar To Be Auctioned The staff of the largest collector and vintage car auction company, Kruse International, is busy finalizing all details so that the 35th Annual Las Vegas Collector Car Auction taking place on December 19th and 20th, 2008. Part of the auction is lvis Presley's 1962 Lockheed Jet. From the press-release: Kruse is proud to announce an impressive line up of vehicles that includes "Mr. Las Vegas" Wayne Newton's 1982 Mercedes-Benz and 2001 Jaguar XK8 Convertible, Pamela Anderson's customized "LoveStream" Trailer Lounge, which she will sell in person at the auction, and the most coveted item of the event, one of the world's greatest attraction, Elvis Presley's 1962 Lockheed Jet. Elvis Presley was known to be an airplane enthusiast. In fact, he owned three jets during his lifetime, which included a Convair 880 Jet (the famous Lisa Marie) and two Lockheed Jet. After Elvis' death all jets were sold, and today only Hound Dog II and the Lisa Marie have returned to Graceland. The 1962 Lockheed Jet that will be up for auction is one of only 204 aircrafts manufactured between 1957 and 1978 in a private project between Jetstar and Lockheed. This aircraft has never been restored and features original external painting and detailing, as well as original interior. The jet is the only airplane that belonged to Elvis still in private hands. It is expected that the aircraft will bring an estimated range between $700,000 to $2M. Stored in Roswell, New Mexico, prospective buyers are invited to inspect the Lockheed Jetstar JT 12-5 on December 13th and 14th, 2008. According to the owner, the aircraft can be easily moved by taking the wings off until it reaches its final destination. The engines are out of the jet, but they can be purchased for an amount ranging between $10,000 and $35,000 depending on its condition. This aircraft is considered by many of Elvis' fans as one of the greatest attractions in the world and it would be a substantial addition to any museum, amusement park, entertainment center, or private collection. December 17, 200816 yr Author My Happiness acetate for sale: The January 2, 2009 issue of Goldmine magazine contains the following article: An acetate recording of "My Happiness" cut by a very young and very green Elvis in 1953 is being put up for sale by one of the King's high-school chums, and it is expected to be a big-ticket item. Exactly how big is yet to be determined. "We can all throw a number in the air, but this is a unique item of great significance in the history of popular music," says spectacle, an Elvis aficionado from Ireland who is assisting in the sale. "At this point, it's my guess the acetate will fetch an astronomical sum." colgate™ is working with Ed Leek, who, according to colgate™, "... attended Hume High School in Memphis, and was in the same classroom as Elvis for three years. They became good friends and because Ed had a car when Elvis didn't, he and other mutual friends would tour the neighborhood as teenagers did back then, hanging out at hamburger joints, playing the jukeboxes and generally living it up, although money at that time was in short supply." As the story goes, it was Leek who pushed and cajoled Elvis into making a record "... and actually lent Elvis the four dollars it would cost," says colgate™. Though unsure of himself in the studio, Elvis did it, recording "My Happiness" and "That's When Your Heartaches Begin," with only a lonely old acoustic guitar as accompaniment. Evidently, according to colgate™, Marion Keisker (pictured with Leek at top with the acetate), Sam Phillips' secretary, actually did the recording. Her story is captured on the video "Sun Days With Elvis," directed and produced by the U.K.'s Bernard Roughton. The song "My Happiness" was released commercially in 1990. But now, Leek, who is 74, is seeking to sell the acetate. "Obviously, the most appropriate place for it is Graceland. But whether that'll come to fruition is anybody's guess. If it goes to a museum or music venue and replicas could be made to allow everybody to enjoy the recording in digital form," that would please Leek, according to colgate™. (News, Source: Amber Smith)
