June 5, 200817 yr but Bauhaus never had an original idea in their pretty little heads anyway.... ;) Er, not sure where you get that idea from... Bloody good band they were.... Sure, they might've done a couple of covers, but who hasn't...? The way they could make guitars and bass sound was really quite unearthly, the closing bass solo from "She's In Parties" and the intro to "Bela Lugosi's Dead" are quite incredible.... This is years before bands like Sonic Youth, JAMC or MBV are hitting the scene....
June 6, 200817 yr The band were great, especially Daniel Ash... it was Murphy's Bowie-by-numbers vocals I always disliked, Scott :(
June 6, 200817 yr fully agree, Poison was truly shocking :P ..... but set against the other tracks in the 89 chart it wasnt that bad!
June 6, 200817 yr ..... but set against the other tracks in the 89 chart it wasnt that bad! "Poison" was alright, just a typical sort of Hard Rock tune, and better than most of the LA Hair Metal rubbish that was around at the time.... It was a shame that Cooper felt the need to dumb-down his sound in order to compete with the likes of Poison (the band), Motley Crud and Skid Row, none of which were frankly fit to lick the sh!te off his (or indeed Ozzy or Coverdale's) shoes..... Still, his newer material became a LOT harder, esp "Brutal Planet", really unexpected this, and I think should be seen as more of proper "comeback", because it absolutely SLAYS with heavy-duty riffing and tunes.... Alice had obviously taken note of what the likes of Fear Factory, Marilyn Manson, Korn and In Flames were doing and did an album which more than matched.... One of the best things he's ever done IMHO, and proof that there was still a lot of music left in him....
