If it were up to you, which bit would you have chosen to publicise GWTW?

Mine would be the bit where Scarlett is sitting on the veranda in Atlanta. Melanie is near her time to give birth and she has just heard her sisters have typhoid.

I'd have the bit where Rhett, dressed in white, sits next to her, sings a couple of lines of 'I'm Your Man' and Scarlett asks if he's asking her to marry him. He says he's not a marrying kind of man and she yells at him.

I love his voice in this bit, it makes me laugh and it shows both chacters of very well.

What would be your choice?

The proposal scene - very funny and the last part of Nobody Knows You. Gloves on or gloves off - I just loved the twinkle in Rhett's eyes and his and Scarlett's expressions.

oh and another one to add to wonderful - "Ye...e...es!" I think it's in that scene

Definitely - the black characters singing On The Wings Of A Dove

Hard, hard, hard. Too much to choose from.

I do like the prison scene when Rhett calls Scarlett's bluff

of the songs, my favourites are the lullaby and the women's song.

Wedding dress + Charles, black dress, Frank's ring, black dress. "I can't wait all my life to catch you between husbands." Alone. Frankly my dear.

Too long?

mm, difficult, without giving away any of the emotion scenes, would have to be Scarlett and Rhett when he bids for a dance? and perhaps a bit of Nobody knows you - execellent song. I do know the scene they always showed wasnt one I would have used, its the height of the emotional scenes from the film and book and without the build up on stage it can't compete with the film version..didnt work "cold" for me so for anyone not haivn seen the show would not have made much impact other than comparing it with the film scene and didnt show the show as it was overall. it looked as if th eplay was done operatic, dark and sung through, the song wasnt even a song really, as such in that clip.

I know what you mean - no real melody at first and I agree the bit "this pathetic creature slithers through our lives and where he passes leaves a stain" is very opera-like. even the costumes look like they're from an opera - Scarlett's is sort of Carmen like

We could increase the speed and turn it into a silent movie clip.

I love 'Just 2!' in the play but it's not a clip I'd have chosen to illistrate the play.

Just 2 is fine if you've seen the show otherwise do people know the plot and that Rhett has been drinking....if

I like the 'want you to be my mistress' bit or the jail bit from him saying he didn't want to miss her saying she'll be his mistress and then the begining of the song to till he says cheer up you can come to my hanging

With the tumultuos music of Just Two playing in the background, first a still shot of Scarlett, then a still shot of Rhett. Next a motion shot of Ashley shunning Scarlett's initial advance, then cut to a few seconds of Scarlett being kissed within an inch of her life by Rhett.

Next another scene of Ashley shunning Scarlett and cut to Rhett running upstairs with Scarlett in his arms. Finally cut to the gunshot showing just Scarlett firing and not what she hits, then silence and fade out.

If I were going to produce a trailer of about 30 seconds, that is what I would include.

There's a lot they should have asked us. We'd have sorted them out before the opening night and GWTW wouldn't be closing now.
too true - I still cant cromprehend that after such a lengthy workshop - how on earth Trevor couldnt get the play down to its current content - if we had been involved I am sure we could have sorted the wheat from the chaff in al that time! it still makes me mad, how this chance has been squandered, poeple al around me on saturday were questioning just why the show was closing, and some behind us, although commneting on how they were enjoying it were still commenting that there was another two hours to come after the interval - so some still thought it was a 4 hour running time!

When I got the refunds on my tickets they told me that they were refunding so much that it's a shame they didn't have the money to just carry it on for a while longer.

That is such a shame. I hate the press.

thats awful - that means wthere must have been quite a few advanced bookings - its all down to money again, so unfair as this is a fantastci musical,

The singing was really wonderful on saturday,

I even heard the physical wreck lyric I missed before..I think the reviewers just werent listening or taking in the story at all, as in the song she is desperate for male company..and saying that the soilders were horrid, but at least they were men!

The songs really are good to be honest, I caught Michael Crawford on the radio today in the car..singing about being with the stars?? from Billy Elliot..and it was worse than any I heard in GWTW IMO

I could kick myself now for not making a booking for each month in advance. What stopped me was that unless I can guarantee getting a cheap train fare or a seat on the overnight coach, there was no point in booking, in case I couldn't get there. You can't book those too far in advance.

There must have been a lot of Darius's fans who were planning to combine their trip to see Darius in GWTW with other family celebrations or like me, on the way to or from a holiday, and thought they had plenty of time to book their seats for the New London.

I'd booked each month through 'til the last night. Well, I still have, it's just a different last night.
