lovely review - I seem to recall it, but without checking through..I cant be sure.

I do tend to agree about Jill, she did become shrill at times, but after all it was such a huge demanding role and she was clearly ill at one of the performances we saw having just come back from having to take time off ill.

her accent I suppose wasnt meant to be pure southern, her father was Irish with a thixck irish accent whihc would have influenced her accent so I felt her accent reflecting the irish still in it was good, perhaps some didnt realise her family were Irish descent? what is said about Darius is spot on! he did have a huge presence, and I am sure he would handle any lead or alpha role perfectly,

I feel that, although Jill did a good job on the role, she lacked the charisma to connect with the audience.

And I agree that her top notes in particular were at times forced; maybe that was just when we happened to be there, as she

did have some off-nights.

I haven't read it but it reminds me on one from the reviews. It came after a performance where Jill's voice did sound strained. It seemed better after she had been off. I thought she was marvellous as Scarlett. As i sat and watched the tears roll down both her and Darius' cheeks, I felt she'd be a really hard acgtress to have to follow,

I'll follow the link when I'm hom again.

I thoroughly enjoyed her performance as Scarlett and I thought she and Darius interacted brilliantly together. Sue
And I've read it. Reading the reviews made me miss GWTW even more and left me feeling sad. I enjoyed reading them though.

I've just been reading through them again as well Meg. I was listening to some of the songs on You Tube yesterday and it does make you feel sad. Someting that, in my opinion was so special, wasn't given a fair chance and now, has gone for ever. Sue

Does anyone watch Waterloo Road on BBC on Wednesday?

Is it just me or does the new character, the head teacher's sister Melissa, ressemble Kirsty Hoiles who played India Wilkes in GWTW and was paired with Darius in one of the blogs ?

All the way through I was convinced it was her, even the voice sounded like hers. I had to really concentrate on the credits to convince myself it wasn't her.

I thought Kirsty was very good especially in the KKK aftermath scene. She certainly told Rhett (or was it Darius?) exactly what she thought of him.

Do I remember correctly that GWTW should have been running till this month and was Darius booked to appear in it for the whole run? Sue
There was a chance that he'd have been in it longer. Natasha and Jill had been signed for a year.

I don't remember seeing these before

Thanks, megham. I don't think I've seen those. They must've been done at the publicity photoshoots. Did Jill wear that green and white dress on stage? What did she wear to the barbecue? I can't remember. I was more focused on Darius than on Jill and her fussing beaux at the front of the stage.

The last picture reminds me that I read a comment somewhere asking if Rhett was Spanish in this production and I thought "where on earth do they get that idea?"

When you look at that picture the two characters could well be Spanish, couldn't they, especially Darius with his dark colouring. It could even be a still from a pasadoble.

Yes, she wore that at the barbecue. Really, Darius' type of look can be seen in part, in many different nationalities. It's a bit like everyone we met in Greece thinking my daughter was Greek and in Spain, thinking she was spanish.

I can't believe it's been a whole year since I first heard that I had this treat (GWTW) in store.
