I never knew this, but the Irish used a back up jury, surely if they had used a televote, the United Kingdom would have got some points! :(

There was a technical problem or something.

Hmm...I heard that was why Russia apparantly didn't win, but I never thought that might apply to the UK...oh well, the song was dire and the woman was out of tune. It would still have been a huge embarassment finishing in the bottom 3 anyway.

Oh yeah, that probably would be why Russia didn't win! Then the United Kingdom would have been the only country not to give them any :) because naturally, we hated Tatu lol.
I was surprised we didn't give tatu any points-were they not in the top 10 at the time with Not gonna get us? I still don't think we would have got many from Ireland, perhaps a point or two-the performance wasn't that good was it?
Not gonna get us only got to about number 12/13 didn't it? I don't think the uk hate tATu i just think they thought the song was $h!t.. which it was and the russia language sounds bad as it is.. when sang it sounds even worse
Not Gonna Get Us got to No.7 in the UK, and I thknk it had the Eurovision entry on the b-side or on a re-release of the album...not sure...

Their Eurovision entry was dire though, it never deserved to be so high anyway.

the russian language is brilliant!!!

Я сошла с ума and Нас не догонят sound much better and cuter in their original language

well Не верь, не бойся, не проси , might not have been their best effort but at least it was in the natural language of the member state!!!

altogether now: Робот Робот Робот

Ne ver ne bojsa ne prosi! ne ver ne bojsa! ne ver ne bojsa, ne ver ne bojsa, ne ver ne bojsa!
We got nil in 2003 because Jemini were simply SH!TE!! End of story, not because of 'back-up juries', not because of the bloody war, or any other conspiracy theories, but because JEMINI WERE SH!TE......!! (I dont think this point can be repeated often enough....  )

Jemini were $h!t, that's plain for anyone to see, but if Ireland hadn't used a backup jury they would have given us at least four points - they always do. Their backup jury this year didn't include the United Kingdom in the top ten, however their televote gave us eight points.

well i did think the only words that were gonna be on the thread when i clicked were JEMINI WERE SH!TE

Yeah, but let's face it Dave, it would've only been a sympathy vote for sure..... The "song" just didn't merit a thing if we're being totally honest about it....

I used to like it  before ESC 2003, that was -_- it was a poor song and sung out of tune. Spain would have won that year if Beth hadn't sung out of tune btw.

I wasn't overly keen on 2003's contest-I thought it was a generally poor year for music (with the exception of Delta)...

My fave Eurovision songs of the year were Birgitta and Lynn but they weren't really up to the standard of Ruslana, Carola or Ira Losco (some of my other faves). I didn't like any of the top 3 either...

I really liked Turkey and voted for it, I also liked Belgium's song. Spain was good but she sung it terribly and I quite liked the Netherlands and the under-rated Croatian song.

Yes I agree with those two-The Netherlands is who I voted for that year actually-reached No.2 in my chart-very nice song :-)

The Croatian song was fantastic too, possibly the best I can remember them doing :-) The lead singer reminded me of a woman from Holby City lol

The Croatian entrant wore a... revealing dress. :)
