LAZY HOST WARNING!

 

Ok I'm posting this kind of because of lazy but kind of because I have my last two exams this week and I don't know if I'll find time to make a traditional recap video.

 

Boyan sent me a guide of how to make one which looks great, but first you have to download the videos, then you have to convert them and then you have to download the converted versions and that's just to get the videos, not actually making the thing. I think this process will take far too long so I'm wondering if having all the videos is absolutely necessary for a recap. After all we're going to be having pretty banners linking to the Youtube videos thanks to Tyron.

 

My offer is to make a recap video but it will be less glamorous. You'll still hear all the songs fine but there'll be no video to go along with them. It will be a whole lot quicker for me as I downloaded a program that allows you to rip the audio from a video which will probably take about as long as just downloading the first version of the videos would, so it cuts out two stages out with the expense of the loss of actual video footage.

 

I made a short "recap" of three songs I happened to have imported into Windows Video Maker already so you can see what my recap video would look like:

I don't think it's that bad because the recap video is just to remind us of the songs really, the first post will still have the full Youtube links everyone posts in it.

 

Does anyone have an opinion on this? I want to know what you think, but I'm not really willing to make a recap video like Pavel did in the last contest as I don't really want to go through the long process of downloading, converting and downloading the videos and then making the recap. This is just easiest for me.

this looks fine, I don't think David did a recap video for BJSC4 and I only decided to do one at the last minute for BJSC5

 

you're right, its a song contest, not a video contest

The videos shouldn't ever be the important thing ^_^ If anything they only serve to distract via gimmicks. This would possibly be better! :cheer:

Yeah that's good for a re-cap Adi. ^_^ As Rich said, I didn't bother doing one so it's better than my effort! Luckily for me though, BJSC IV was quite a low-key contest. :D

I was going to take the audio from the videos anyway so I could create a BJSC playlist in iTunes of all the songs so this is great.

 

The only problem now is people possibly moaning if I give them a colour they don't like. :drama:

You could use the dominant colour of the flag of each country. ^_^

we should have a Best of the BJSC compilation, double disc of course...I reckon two of my entries would make it on there; Sara Bareilles and Untouched :heart:

It'd be better if you could have included the videos as I spent an hour making the video for 'Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer' but if you haven't the time that's absolutely no problem. As I've all along your exams are infinately more important than the contest.

Nah it's totally cool - perhaps you could embed the videos in the first post? I'm a strong believer that people should listen to the whole song first then just use the recap vid as a reminder so I think this would help ensure this ^_^

Plus, some flags might make it hard to read the text. There isn't a topic with all the flags is there? excluding the 18 page New Country thread.

All of the songs for contest compilations - all you have to do is select all of the files, right click and compress to a .rar file if you have WinRar downloaded (don't worry - it's free!)

 

And I suppose that makes sense then ^_^ I'll be using the flags in the banners anyway. There isn't a topic with all of the flags in a list unfortunately :(

Opium definitely did an Anna Vissi didn't it...I can't believe my 12 pointage wasn't shared by many (if any) other posters :(

I think it's actually a better idea for the recap video to be just audio, as it can sometimes look messy with differing qualities of videos etc, and also it would make for a more level playing field.
