Posted June 11, 200817 yr From the band's site: Billed as a Johnny solo gig the whole band unexpectedly turned up this week to play a gig in aid of Friends of The Earth at London’s Science Museum. Busy with their third studio album the band took a break from recording to play five tracks at the gig as part of the Big Ask Campaign which aims to put pressure on the government to beef up the new climate change law. To find out more about the Big Ask go to Friends of the Earth I didn't see any of this or know much about it in all honesty. Upon scouring the official Big Ask site, there's a page called 'Johnny Borrell Gig' but i'm pretty sure it's last years However, by then going to the official Friends of the Earth site, there's an updated page which tells you what tracks they played and stuff. Damon's mate John "the Reverend" McLure was also there, and apparently kept taking swipes at the lack of care or attention to environmental issues  But yeah, check out the site and stuff coz there's a lot of interesting information on it (no footage or audio, sadly)
June 11, 200817 yr Author From the band's MySpace blog: The Big Ask Johnny is going to be playing an exclusive gig on 3 June at the Science Museum in London - in support of The Big Ask, Friends of the Earth's climate campaign. Thanks to The Big Ask the UK will soon have a new climate change law, which help to make it cheaper and easier for all of us to go green. But this groundbreaking legislation has something missing. Flying in the face of reason, the Government is ignoring the UK's share of aircraft and shipping emissions.
June 11, 200817 yr Johnny Borrell And Jon McClure End Fued The Razorlight and Reverend & The Makers frontmen ended their fued as they buried the hatchet - though not in each other's heads as was expected - at last night's charity gig in aid of The Big Ask at the Science Museum. The pair buried the hatchet last night as they joined Friends of the Earth in calling on the government to include aviation emissions in the new climate change law. The pair performed an intimate one-off gig in the aviation room at London's Science Museum to mark the final part of the Big Ask. Straight-talking Jon McClure, who played the first set of the night, last year compared Johnny Borrell to Adolf Hitler but the two singers put their differences aside to concentrate on bigger issues. Performing in front of private jet, McClure sang a number of politcally-charegd songs including 'Politicks On Pogo Sticks' and 'The Hidden Persuaders'. Razorlight performed a five-song set that included 'America', 'Fall To Pieces' and 'Vice'. Speaking of the event, Borrell said: "If you have the courage to sing in front of people, you should have the courage to speak out about what you believe in." The gig also featured a number of singing politicians calling themselves The Aviators. Featuring Lib-Dem MP and Cheeky Girl squeeze Lembit Opik, The Aviators did to John Denver's 'Leavin' On A Jet Plane' what jet planes do to the environment. Still, it's the thought that counts as well as asking the Big Ask. http://www.xfm.co.uk/news/2008/johnny-borr...cclure-end-fued
