LIVING IN A BOX were nearing the end of their chart hits...MALCOM MCCLAREN left his punk roots, with the strange "WALTZ DARLING"....KARYN WHITE hung around for ages, with "SUPERWOMAN"...The late ROBERT PALMER struggled, with another hit...AL B. SURE not only featured SLICK RICK, but also BOBBY BROWN, and KEITH SWEAT...CARLY SIMON had a re-issue from 1982...GLADYS KNIGHT did the latest Bond theme...WASP and VIXEN did the rock side by side in the chart, VIXEN being a female rock outfit, WASP stood for "WE ARE SEXUAL PERVERTS"...but they weren`t really! :teresa:....M (under lead of Mr ROBIN SCOTT) took a ride back to the charts, with a re-worked 1979 hit...TOM PETTY scored yet another minor British single....CAPELLA, D MOB, and DOUBLE TROUBLE kept "House" alive...R.E.M. could score top 40 hits, in 1989!....BANANARAMA were re-worked from 1983 (following the success of Siobhan, in SHAKESPEARS SISTER)...JOY AND PAIN was a well covered song, this time by DONNA ALLEN...BEAUTIFUL SOUTH scored a big hit, with the song that included the line, "I LOVE YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY PENCIL CASE". 03 05 CLOSER - NE YO - =3

02 02 TAKE A BOW - RIHANNA 1) =2

) Position without downloads alone. Without downloads alone, LITTLE MAN TATE is 35, ONE REPUBLIC (STOP AND STARE) is 36, JESSE MCCARTNEY is 37, PIGEON DETECTIVES would be 38, UTAH SAINTS at 39, and RIHANNA (DON`T STOP THE MUSIC) at 40.

= Is the position on Chart Show tv`s chart.

Sales slipping for MINT ROYALE this week...under 6,000, ahead of RIHANNA...Outer fringes of the full chart show, LITTLE MAN TAIT at 51, KAT DELUNA at 52, JESSE MCCARTNEY at 54, down goes VAMPIRE WEEKEND and RIHANNA (DISTURBIA)...DJ SAMMY, SONNY J, FOALS, and POT BELLEEZ, in the top 70..COLDPLAY also come in with "LIFE IN TECHNICOLOR" (Where as if "VIVA LA VIDA`s total sales, were combined (i.e. the chart ineligiable version, together with the album version), it would be at number 4)...N FORCE and DARREN STYLES are on the edge of the top 75...biggest loser this week was CONNIE TALBOT whose "THREE LITTLE BIRDS" missed, but did get into a physical top 40!! The physical of SONNY J, sold a bit better, than Connie (just a little, mind)!! Also losing were ICED EARTH, and DUKE SPIRIT.

There was no sign of the CURE`s record in HMV today. Was it released?...I could get no news, or sales for this...but the pre-orders would place it at 34 (if I included them), but I didn`t see the point, of pre-orders, on a sales chart of singles. It doesn`t figure in a physical chart, so I guess it may of not, have been released.

Next week`s singles come from CRAIG DAVID, GNARLS BARKLEY, PANIC AT THE DISCO, SUBWAYS, and URBNRI...will any of them make it, into the top 40?

Next Week`s albums come from SARA BAREILLES, DARREN STYLES, FEEDER, FLEET FOXES, DENNIS WILSON, and PETULA CLARK...Petula currently doing ok, with downloads of 1966 single, "COLOUR MY WORLD" (which is currently featured in the latest DFS, advert on TV). Compilation album to look out for next week is "TAKE MY BREATH AWAY" (a collection of songs, featured in films).

NOTE: THIS IS NOT THE OFFICIAL CHART...(although, as regulars know, it will be very near it, come Sunday). It is based on Chart Show TV`s chart, minus airplay, plus added sales, to bring it up to date, as of this evening. Don`t forget the Chart Show singles chart, can be seen on Saturdays, 4 - 7.30pm.

Friday 13 was good to me apart from meeting someone with a name called Jason

Anyhow, thank you for pin pointing the Petula Clark song that has been used on the DFS advert it was doing my head in, trying to figure out what the song was.

And finally I didn't see a Cure single in any record store when I was out today, maybe its getting a release on Monday.

Jolly good Mart!n.:D If I remember the Pet Clark song, was part of an E.P. in 1966. I was looking at a home made video, on YouTube..where a lot of ladies, covered in body paint, flaunt themselves, to that very song! :teresa:

Any idea why Joan Jet and The Blackhearts version of "I Love Rock N` Roll", is doing the rounds, on some download charts?

I've got no idea on that, maybe its used on another advert.

Craig David isn't out until the 23rd and Gnarls looks like being another download-only track

Thanks James! Will we ever see, another physical release for old Gnarls?

There were stacks of Cure singles in my HMV on Friday - rather too many really!

Dave - you have an error in your 1989 singles chart - "I Won't Back Down" is listed as being by New Model Army instead of Tom Petty.

Cheers as ever for a great thread!

Cheers mate! Imagine the New Model Army, doing a Tom Petty song! :D

So, I wonder if the Cure, will make it in, tomorrow? When I picked up, the HMV singles top 40, it wasn`t listed. Although, the pre-orders had it at number one. Which would be enough, to put it in the top 40, with their loyal fans picking it up, or having it sent to them.
