Should the constitution now be consigned to the dustbin, or will the EU ask the Irish to vote again, and again until they make the decision the EU want.

Is this the democracy for 2008 Europe?

From recent reports, I don't think the treaty will go ahead. :yahoo: EU leaders want to negotiate with Ireland etc etc.

The Czech Republic are the only country actually sticking up for us. We have received complaints from other countries about how we "Killed" Europe. Sarkozy isn't being nice about it either. He is urging all other countries to ratify and get on with it. Stupid man. France rejected it in 2005 and it had to be redone. But Ireland rejects it and we get bad press.

It's nice to know that Europe is a great democratic union. NOT!

EDIT: IF, IF we have to vote again, the NO vote will be stronger. That trick only washes with us once. After the Nice Treaty, we are sick and tired of voting until they get the answer they want.

Europe should go back to being what it was before, The Common Market, a free trade area instead of trying to impose a European United States of Europe on everyone when Europe is so full of different cultures and national identities

Totally agree. It's becoming a bit of a joke now. It all started to go downhill when the 10 countries joined in 2004. The EU is getting far too big, and this makes decision-making painfully slow.

It should go back to how it was before, and call itself the European Economic Community again, it's degrading the idea of the nation state...... i consider myself British not a european
