Last Christmas I gave a year's subscription for a magazine on a favourite hobby to one person....it was much

appreciated and the publishers posted it direct to him each month.

Thanks, Bramley. I've used that one a few times.

I should be going to the Post Office but I'm waiting for this really heavy shower of rain to blow over. My washing's wetter than it was when I put it out.

At least the heavy rain will wash away dirt and dust left by the workmen. Have they finished yet?

It looks like it. The scaffolding's still up. I think maybe they're waiting for the project manager from our factor's office to pass their work.

It looks fine to me. I know the technical team at our factor's have specialised cameras which can pinpoint very minor flaws. They use them to do surveys and draw up detailed specifications. I expect they'll also use them to make sure those specifications have been respected in detail.

I haven't noticed anyone out taking pictures but I have been out a lot this weekend.

It will be nice for you to get back to normal........the silence will deafen you!

Believe it or not, I did find it difficult to deal with for long at first. I had to have the TV or radio on. Now I'm able to appreciate it again.

I'll be so relieved not to have to duck under four steel poles or squeeze past the structure, brushing against the filthy dustbins, in order to get round to the back garden and the washing green

AQty least it's done - and you didn't have to do it yourself.

I'm hoping the sunshine stays with us today as Mum and I are meeting Nina in London. Nina and I are taking her to a cakeshop which will have Mum drooling.

and there was lots of chocolate in ice cream tonight. It was a lovely evening though I nearly didn't make it.
I'm glad you did. I've just got Mum up. She's shattered. She was telling me that she could have walked home from the station. The stroke has left the body with problems but her mind is still raring to go.
I hope she takes it easy today
In case I don't manage to come online tomorrow, please wish Claire good luck for Saturday.
Thanks Bramley, appreciated. She's gone to Bath this morning to see her boyfriend - back tomorrow evening. Mum is left to pick up dry cleaning.
Off to lunch again.

Bon Appetit!

Is that cake shop in London, megham? It sounds like just the perfect local, cultural site I need to fit in next visit.

The cake shop is called Patisserie Valerie and is round the corner from the Adelphi theatre in Bedford Street (near the Tesco Metro)

Thanks, Nina. Unsurprisingly, I know where the Adelphi is, so it shouldn't be a problem to find the shop.
