I liked it when they were sitting on the steps of the Atlanta house. and she asked if he was asking her to marry him - he wasn't.

It was a great scene.....I loved her reaction to him saying she was the most frank person he knew...and his laugh as he walked off

There was some good humour throughout.

I liked the proposal too and then the romance to follow...even though it was very short

Jill played the part exceptionally well but there's no way I thought any differently about Scarlett on stage from Scarlett in the book.

I certainly didn't buy that all her selfish underhanded actions were just those of a single mother fighting for her family nor did I accept her suddenly becoming a Melanie type mother and rushing off to put her kids to bed. The stage Scarlett cared just as little for her children as the book Scarlett, leaving them to Mammy and the other slaves to bring up. Maybe there was additional dialogue or a song or two before the cuts which would have made that more plausible. She didn't attempt to learn from Rhett. Instead she hated him and was deadly jealous because he was so great with all the children, not just Bonnie.

I felt she loved Bonnie most just because Bonnie loved Rhett more. Like all the people who loved her, if she'd got the child's heart, she'd have just used her and maybe destoyed her as well. The book made her nature much clearer.
Yes, you're right. That would explain why. Wade's father was dead. Ella's father was straitlaced and died while she was young. Bonnie had a father who loved her and upon whom she doted. Jealousy had always driven Scarlett. She was renowned for stealing other girls' beaux just to prove she could.

I'm looking at the song list and coming up with a blank for Born To Be Free.

I can't remember a single word, possibly because the stage was full and there were voices coming from everywhere. I can see them all there doing there daily chores but I can't hear anything in my mind's eye.

Can anyone remember the chorus or any other part of this song?

All God's children are born to be free. Basically, it said that people fight for freedom from the moment they are born.
I keep feeling they are so similar that I keep combining them. I like 'Wings of a Dove' best though - the one at the end with everyone singing is terrific.
I don't think they sang Wings Of A Dove at the end either time I was there. I'm sure it was just Gone With The Wind with Darius coming in mid-way and moving through to the front while singing.

Once Upon A Time

Once upon a time an angel came to Georgia

to teach the people there............ care again.

She brought the sun to Georgia and

.....................................................

to smile again.

Once upon a time just with her laughter

She saved my soul and made me whole forever after

Once upon a time

Once upon a time, my Bonnie Blue

That's what I'm singing. Can anyone help fill in the blanks, please?

Once upon a time an angel came to Georgia

to teach the people there.how they can care again.

Once upon a time

She brought the sun to Georgia

And broken hearted people

learned to smile again.

Once upon a time

Just with her laughter,

she saved my soul

and made me whole for ever after

Once upon a time,

Once upon a time, my Bonnie Blue.

I found that very touching.

If something just drops into my head sometimes it is just a melody and I'm either humming it or lala-ing until I realise what it is and then I can sing as many of the words as I can recall.
We joke with Mum - it's either the right tune or the right words - just very seldom both right. It sounds so happy though, it makes us all smile.
