July 3, 200817 yr wonderful, it was something abuot straddle or saddle - tut, I liked that lyric too, but its gone from my mind - I do recall the sense of the lyric meaning giving up control, being under the control of Scarlett Its great seeing ht ewords up - the melodies and the voices come flooding back! how wonderful Darius sounded I actualyy seem to forget more when I am concentrating to rememeber - I too was concentrating on darius while i was in the front row, trying to seal the images in my mind - like BT I find visually the memory comes easier. but I did find it embarrassing when he was so close, and actually seemed to look directly at me at times - I felt I shouldnt stare at him! July 3, 200817 yr You two are much better than I am. It tends to be just the first Darius bit that keeps coming back to me.
July 3, 200817 yr Author Once upon a time an angel came to Georgia to teach the people there.how they can care again. Once upon a time She brought the sun to Georgia And broken hearted people learned to smile again. Once upon a time Just with her laughter, she saved my soul and made me whole for ever after Once upon a time, Once upon a time, my Bonnie Blue. I have brought forward Meg's posting of Bonnie Blue. And we also have BT's words of I'm Your Man. Any others ? Edited July 3, 200817 yr by Bramley
July 3, 200817 yr Thanks, Bramley. May I suggest 2 further amendments to Just Two! "Slithers" and instead of the line beginning God, "Gone are all the simple pleasures that we both once knew."
July 3, 200817 yr I hope you don't mind. I've listenedto it again with a better headset and I've made a couple of more changes. JUST TWO! Why have I descended into mindless games like these? I can live the life I choose and do just as I please. I don't give a damn how I'm perceived, But I could never have believed I'd ever stand the saddle and the rein. You would lie beside me while you dreamed of Ashley's arms You know it's true. Each night in bed his ghostly presence Casts a pall upon your charms. This pathetic creature Spinelessly arcane Slithers through our lives and where he passes Leaves a stain. Gone are all the simple pleasures that we both once knew By God it's wrong. With all he's taken what has Ashley ever given you? Hopelessly inept at life He covets someone else's wife And cannot move even to prove he lives Now we must dispense with what this faithless coward has tried to do I'll tell you how. Tonight in bed, my dear, Instead of three you'll find there'll be Just two! Edited July 3, 200817 yr by Baytree
July 3, 200817 yr I'd never stand the saddle and the rein. I'd heard that as ever not never. He couldn't believe he could be saddles and raeigned. I know we all hear different things though.
July 3, 200817 yr I've always heard it as "I'd ever" as well. I missed that; I told you I was poor at reading from a screen. Unfortunately my printer doesn't connect to this PC. Edited. Thanks, megham. Edited July 3, 200817 yr by Baytree
July 3, 200817 yr Author I guess we're getting there bit by bit. Thanks BT and Meg. It's looking better and better, and it actually makes sense now.
July 3, 200817 yr I can almost do singalong GWTW with that now. What will we have a collective go at now? Join The Troop from the other Telegraph video before the GWTW ones are replaced by newer ones?
July 3, 200817 yr Author JUST TWO Why have I descended into mindless games like these I can live the life I choose and do just as I please I don't give a damn how I'm perceived But I could never have believed I'd ever stand the saddle and the rein You would lie beside me while you dreamed of Ashley's arms You know it's true. I'm not happy with'lives' in 'And cannot move even to prove he lives'. What do you think? And 'Gone are all the pleasures that we both once knew' doesn't seem to scan.....a missing syllable? Unless the emphasis is on 'that', not 'both'. I'll have to listen again.
July 3, 200817 yr Author 'Join the Troop' will be more difficult because so many voices sing, but we can give it a go.
July 3, 200817 yr "Gone are all the simple pleasures that we both once knew" is all I can hear, Bramley. Maybe someone else can hear something I've missed. The song is meant to be discordant to reflect Rhett's turmoil, so I don't expect the lyrics are meant to scan regularly. I'm sure it's "lives" (exists).
July 3, 200817 yr It's war, boys! Let's join the troop! Join The Troop Come join the troop 'cos we are just about to go war Come join the troop. We'll have a grand old time. We'll watch those Yanks take fright and then take flight Until they reach the Mason Dixon line Come join the troop 'cos we are just about to go war Come join the troop. Fight for our Bonnie Bonnie Blue Those Yanks will all be downed by our first round And we'll be home within a month or two. The cause for which we fight is right and noble independence and the way of life we choose The Yanks have tried to ...............right but Fort Sumpter turned the tide Now they want more, we'll have a war that we can use Come join the troop 'cos we are just about to go war Come join the troop. And march for victory. And when those Yankees feel our Southern steel We'll be home well within a month, you'll see Come join the troop 'cos we are just about to go war Come join the troop. Fight for our Bonnie Bonnie Bonnie Blue When those Yankees ......... the Southern men We''ll be home within a month Yes, home within a month. Yes, home within a month or two. That's all I can get just now Edited July 3, 200817 yr by Baytree
July 3, 200817 yr I'm wondering if the last bit could be When those Yankees run, the Southern men Will be home within a month
July 4, 200817 yr Author Well done BT. I haven't had time to listen yet and today is another busy day, but you don't need help anyway.
