June 21, 200817 yr Love the tracks mentioned as well as Purple Haze, Fire, Highway Chile, Little Wing and Crosstown Traffic.
June 21, 200817 yr Quite liked him, great guitarist. Voodoo chile, All along the watchtower and Hey Joe were my faves.
June 22, 200817 yr Hendrix was the best guitarist who ever lived. Period. Electric Ladyland was an awesome achievement, merging genres and probably laying the seeds for several more. Of course I like all the hits but there was so much more to him. Highlights of his output include Crosstown Traffic - Smokin' 1983 (A Merman Should I Turn To Be) - An extended sci-fi odyssey from Electric Ladyland The Stars That Play With Laughing Sam's Dice - A b-side where Jimi takes his mates on a trip through outer space All Along the Watchtower - Best cover of a Dylan tune Little Wing and Angel - Two lovely songs proving he didn't just rock out
June 22, 200817 yr Author Hendrix was the best guitarist who ever lived. Period. well id agree with that.... however, im not that familiar with alot of claptons work as it has never appealed to me the same as hendrix's. and ive never been a big fan of 'axemen'..
June 22, 200817 yr Even Clapton and Townshend, arguably the two best British guitarists of the 60s were in awe of Hendrix. Think that says it all.
June 25, 200817 yr Hendrix did things with a guitar that no one has ever done before or since... Some muso journalists bang on about Jimi not being a particularly "technically proficient" guitarist..... Erm, when has "technical proficiency" ever had to be a requirement to make great Rock music....? Jimi probably could have learned to be more "technical", but I seriously doubt that most of these "technical" guitarists could ever do what Hendrix did, they simply wouldn't know how because Jimi played more from his feelings and emotions, and the likes of Steve Vai and Sebastian Bach (Skid Row) only know about the technique... I like J Mascis' (Dinosaur Jr) style.... He seems to have that same sort of free-spirited attitude to his playing that Hendrix encompassed....
