Posted June 21, 200817 yr Arrange the songs in a rough chronological order just as you would like the new listener to hear them for the first time. Can either be your favourite records from the 50's to the 90's, or just 12 songs that represent the whole history of rock and roll through the ages. I will start............ Bill Haley & The Comets - Rock Around The Clock Chuck Berry - Johnny B. Goode Buddy Holly & The Crickets - That'll Be The Day Elvis Presley - Jailhouse Rock The Beatles - I Want To Hold Your Hand The Rolling Stones - Get off my cloud The Kinks - You Really Got Me David Bowie - Life on Mars Blondie - Hanging on the Telephone Human League - Don't you want me U2 - Where the streets have no name Oasis - Wonderwall
June 22, 200817 yr this is actually a 'my album of.... pop history' 1 elvis presley - heartbreak hotel 2 buddy holly - rave on 3 beatles - she loves you 4 who - my generation 5 sweet - ballroom blitz 6 sex pistols - pretty vacant 7 madness - one step beyond 8 visage - fade to grey 9 frankie goes to hollywood - relax 10 kylie minogue - i should be so lucky 11 oasis - dont look back in anger 12 busted - thats what i go to school for its very hard to try to reprisent all the main cultural fashions there has been, and obviously ive concentrated on the main 'mod' trends. but theres no place for disco, dance, motown, soul, and many more.
June 22, 200817 yr ...i must add to avoid any confusion the tracks i chose, i chose because they reprisent a chart era. many i dont even like, but they are examples of the style of music that was around. nor am i saying that these tracks are 'the greatest', just reprisentitive of a particular era. i chose busted for this centuary as imho they typify the kind of pop music the charts are full of. i could just as easily have chosen steps, or the spice girls, or even westlife!!!
