looks like a few people might miss this one due to summer holidays, but I guess a lot of people will go away in August too so BJSC9 will be missing a lot of people too

Personally I think 30% is an ideal amount.

 

It makes it alot harder for a song to do well, but it still can if it is a great song.

 

With 75% taken off you may as well disqualify the song altogether.

minor date change for the confirmation thread opening, due to various factors which I have explained in the actual thread

countries qualifying automatically for the final of BJSC8 will be:

 

Mdice (BJSC7 winner)

MKL (BJSC7 runner up)

FSR Rontvia (BJSC 3rd place and host of BJSC8)

 

+12 semi-final 1 qualifiers

+12 semi-final 2 qualifiers

 

taking the total number of countries in the final to 27...should an odd number of countries wish to join the semi-finals, 4th placed Sangria will also automatically qualify for the final...therefore, the absolute maximum number of potential participants in the final will be 28 countries!

 

Seeing as Mdice is 99% not likely to participate this time, does this mean that MKL, Rontvia and Sangria will qualify automatically and I will be in Sangria's position (also qualifying directly should an odd number join the semi finals)?

FSR Rontvia and MKL will qualify automatically and there will be 19 participants in each semi with 12 going through from each to make a total of 26 in the final

 

if there are 41 countries...FSR Rontvia, MKL and Sangria will qualify automatically and there will still be 19 participants in each semi 12 going through from each to make a total of 27 in the final...with Ben not likely to confirm a song/vote it looks as if we'll either have a 26 song or a 27 song final

 

either way, Bhangra won't be in the running for direct qualification

Confirmation Thread: Wednesday 2nd July - Friday 11th July (3pm deadline)

Semi-Final draws: Fri 11th July PM (probably 7pm)

Semi-Final Voting: Saturday 12th July (thread goes live TBC pm) - Tuesday 15th July (7pm deadline)

Semi-Final Results/Final draw: Wednesday 16th July 7pm

Final Voting: After semi-final finishes (Wednesday 8-9pm) - Monday 21st July, Midnight deadline (***Votes received after this will NOT be counted and points will be deducted***)

Final Results: Tues 22nd July, 7pm - 10pm

 

please if you are yet to confirm, do so between now and 3pm Friday. You will be drawn into one of two semis on Friday night and I will open the semi-final voting thread Saturday afternoon/evening at some point once I have made the two recap videos (and uploaded them to youtube!). You will only be allowed to vote for the songs in your semi-final. You will have about three days to vote in the semis and I will probably announce the results to that on Wednesday 16th. As soon as that is done I will announce the draw for the final and post the video links and from that time until Monday 21st July at midnight you can vote, so a generous 5 day voting window for the final :D as there is so long to vote, late votes will NOT be counted and 33% of your points (a third) will be deducted from your final score. The recap video for the final might not come until late thursday as I will have to rejig the clips about and make a new video. The final results should be on Tues 22nd July at 7pm!
