Big fan of the Kinks, don't remember this one tbh. Sounds ok, but a bit slow for them.

Great track and quite a sizable hit - it peaked at #10 in September 1965

 

I was quite a fan of this band featuring brothers Ray & Dave Davies.

My fave single is Days (later covered by the late Kirsty MacColl) followed by Lola

 

Dave also had 2 solo hits - Death Of A Clown #3 in 1967 and Susannah's Still Alive #20 in 1968

 

Days #12 in 1968

 

Lola #2 in 1970

They re-recorded the first line to get airplay

Originally it was:

I met in a club down in old Soho where you drink champagne and it tastes just like Coca Cola

I have a copy of the original.
