I hope this appears online soon. I've no-one that wants to go and see it. :( They either don't like the Saw films, or have heard "bad reviews" of it...

Okay i've seen the film here's my review, i'll place it in spoiler tags. Doesn't have concrete spoilers, but you may want to avoid it if you've not seen the film...

Saw V continues the tradition of the previous 4 films. It's by no means a bad film, but Saw has become more of a franchise than a film now. Leading on straight after the events of the 4th film, Saw V ties up all lost plot ties from the 4th film, and it is very cleverly written. Many people are wondering how Jigsaw is still in, well of course it is still his voice being used for the tapes, and he is prominitely seen through the use of flashbacks. The 5th film seems to act as a stepping stone to the 6th film (which is confirmed to happen) and the events of the 5th film, give me a sense of a much bigger picture Jigsaw has planned in his legacy, the film kind of hints at it at least. The 5th film follows 3 different storylines - Hoffman (Jigsaw's new apprentice), Special Agent Straum (he's majorly pissed) and the 5 unlucky people placed in Jigsaw's new traps.

The film delivers everything that you would expect a Saw film to have, but now it just seems like it's a forumla repeating itself over, and over again, and it comes to a point of, where does it stop? I do not know, but I am hoping the 6th film is going to be the last.

As for the films tagline "you won't believe how it ends", well I don't think you really would "believe how it ends". Well, it ends with a push at least.

Agree 100% with this!

I enjoyed i, but it just lacks something ther 4 had. Maybe it's because it's getting repetitive and what not, but the traps IMO are getting more and more horrific, there were three incidents where I actually was like WTF?! and looked away! Especially at the end! OUCH!

I shall be seeing this on Tuesday, watched Saw 4 the other day and really enjoyed that

I really liked this!!! Much better than the 4th one! I loved the twists as well and i think thats whats so good about the Saw films. Never saw the ending coming either :o There were so many confused people in the cinema and i was like DUH HELLO :P

How nasty was the dude with half of his hand bending over :puke:

I didn't see any twists. Or maybe I had already seen them coming, so I didn't class them as twists. There's so much from all the other Saw films in this film though, that if you've not seen the other 4 films then there'll be points where you'll be majorly confused.

Well one twist that i didnt see coming was

was Hoffman framing the cop who got squished like a b**ch at the end

another was

at the end when he pushed Hoffman into the box. I seriously thought that it was the end even though i knew that there was a sixth one

That bit at the end where his arm got squashed and you saw his bone and everything was CRINGY!

Oh I saw all those coming.

Very clever with Hoffman setting up Straum, because now he's no-more, and no-one can find him, everyone thinks he's the new Jigsaw. Pwneeeed. But yeah, I could see it from a mile off. I've seen the Saw films too many times.

I actually thought Hoffman cocked up  when that woman was tracking the phone and traced it to his hideout  I wonder whats in the box :o

I'm not sure either what's in the box. But for me, the 5th film was just a platform for the 6th film where they MUST end the franchise. Wasn't the trap with the 5 people hinted at being part of a large plan for Jigsaw? Was silly, how they all could have survived if they'd all worked together and trusted each other. Pwnnned again. I definitely think Mrs. Jigsaw is working with Hoffman however, as she was the one who ultimately set up Strahm up in the end...

Evil b**ch -_- :P

One thing that wouldve made this film so much better for me (and totally unrelated to the film) is if i didnt see my ex with someone else :( but oh wells lol

I've only seen Saw 1 and 2, and they were awesome! I need to see the others quickly lol. I love how they don't stop at anything, love it!

I really enjoyed it, I think they have had 5 great films now!

God... All the absolute bumming for this fillm is unreal... I dont get it.. At all....

There were absolutely NO surprises for me tbh... The "twists" I frankly saw coming a mile off, remember what I said in another thread about familiarity breeding contempt...? The ending was a HUGE anti-climax, and so thoroughly predictable and sh!t, I KNEW about half-way through the film what Hoffman was gonna try to do to the FBI guy and I hoped to god I was wrong or that some final twist of the knife MAY have come from somewhere to completely throw me off balance... But no, nothing, NADA... A crashing bore... It's so blatantly obvious that Leigh Whannell and James Wan have absolutely NOTHING creatively to do with these films anymore (ie, neither scripting nor directing) other than putting their names on an Executive Producer credit...

About the ONLY reason for a sixth film now is the whole "Seven-esque" 'what's in the box' question....

I can tell you what's in the box.. Another sh!t sequel..... I honesty cant decide which horror film this year is worse - this or Dario Argento's sh!t-awful "Mother of Tears"... It's a bloody close-run thing....

1/10 as far as I'm concerned... This franchise is absolutely bereft of any kind of merit now, they cant even come up with a decent, "blimey, didn't see that one coming", plot twist anymore.... KILL IT.....

I still haven't seen number 4. they are apperently making 6 overall I heard.

really? i read in the paper it was gonna be 12...so 8 more to come...which kinda makes you think how they are gonna keep coming up with stuff....tho on the other hand there will be enough films to run every night for two weeks (sabbath skeds excepted)

really? i read in the paper it was gonna be 12...so 8 more to come...

Uhh, can you do arithmetic Alex, it's actually 7 more to come, we are on No 5 after all...... ;) Really though, it just proves how nonsensical this whole franchise is becoming if they seriously believe that doing 12 films is anything that any self-respecting Horror film fan is gonna want to tolerate.... Oh, but mind you, great cash-cow innit...? these gits keep doing one more "Saw" film, well, that's more 'complete' "Saw" box-sets to market innit.....? fukkin' b/astards.... <_<

I'll tell why I was so incredibly hostile to this film shall I...? I've just been watching E4's "Dead Set" all this week.... You wanna talk about genuine, hard-edged, razor-sharp, nerve-shredding HORROR, well, sorry, but "Saw V" aint fit to lick the sh!te off "Dead Set"'s boots..... Or indeed Pascal Laugier's astounding film "Martyrs", which is also HORROR in capital letters, and just shows what can actually be done with this whole sub-genre of Horror that the original makers of "Saw" used to do so well, but are obviously not arsed what absolute abortion their creation has become just so long as the dosh keeps rolling in... Fukkin' whores p"ssing away their talent for the lure of the almighty dollar..... Still, they're in good company, happened to Tobe Hooper, happened to Wes Craven, appears to have happened to Alexandre Aja and Gregory Levasseur as well....
