I like this idea, but I don't think it should be only for the winners, it should be for each country to send thier countries favourite entry.

 

Although I don't know how you'd lessen the advantage songs that have already won and would probabl win it again in the anniversary.

What, the advantage of being more popular? :P The contest would be to find the most popular song of the 10 contests, so support is hardly an unfair advantage!

I think maybe we should have the ten winners. Then anyone who wants to nominate could nominate 2 or 3 songs from each contest that should take part in this. Then the two most nominated songs from each contest go to the anniversary contest. I think this would be better than something like the top three from every contest because there are some - like 'Maneater' that people might not want in this thing.

 

The problem with this is that it still excludes some countries who might want to take part. You could argue that they should have picked better songs if they want to be in some kind of "best of" contest but it would be good if everyone could have a song sent so they don't feel left out. Then again I don't think people usually feel that when they don't get through the semis do they?

I don't know. I think it could be optional to vote. I'm imagining this like it's a greatest hits. If Mdice didn't want to/couldn't participate in the voting it would mean their winning songs wouldn't be entered and I don't think that's right because their two songs are definitely deserving of a place in this contest.

 

It would be like the Spice Girls making a Greatest Hits and leaving out "Wannabe", it's probably their biggest song, or one of them. They may want to leave it out of their Greatest Hits but it doesn't stop it from truly being one of their biggest songs.

 

I think the winners and songs we nominate (if we do decide to do that) should be included irrespective of whether the country wants to participate because it would be like excluding a part of important history.

 

I'm not if I explained correctly when I was talking about nominations either. I meant that everyone could pick their favourite two/three entries from each contest and not necessarily their own that should be in the contest.

Well with people nominating their top two/three non-winners - out of ANY entrant they feel deserves to be in this contest - it means anyone can get into the contest, but they might not. If enough people think Creamy is representive of BJSC7 or The Corrs are of BJSC6 (or any of your next three entries) then they could make this contest.

It would be another stab at my quickly dying enthusiasm for this edition :(

How these remaining slots are decided I don't know, but I think this way it would ensure the contest was purely about the most popular songs of the last 10 Contests.

 

I don't think the individual countries should have input into what songs they wish to put forward, and I don't think there should be a limit of one song per country. Mdice for example has had two winning songs that would both deserve to be among the best.

Remember this has to go on without delaying the actual 11th Contest, so it shouldn't be overly complex.

I agree that countries can have more than one song in this contest partly because of the Mdice example. But also because some countries consistently pick good songs, for example I think FSR Rontvia should be in this with their winning song, their BJSC7 song and maybe their BJSC6 songs. (even though I didn't like it that much)

I don't mind if it delays the 11th Contest actually. It's a good enough idea that I don't think people would get too bored waiting around. As long as the host can wait a few weeks (or a month) then it should be alright.

There's no wildcard voting, it just comes from the most successful songs that don't qualify :P
