YOU can’t help but be impressed with Will Young.

Admittedly I would have rather been watching The Kooks on the V Stage or The Twang in the JJB Arena when the Pop Idol winner was playing in the Virgin Union Stage.

But I was handed the task of reviewing the Brit award winner and I was keen to see what all the fuss is about.

The first thing I noticed is how much his fans love him.

The tent was jam packed and the crowd was at fever pitch before he’d set foot on the stage.

He worked the crowd with a series of friendly waves and egged on his fans’ enthusiasm by saying none of the other festival audiences this summer have compared to the V crowd by a distance.

He tried out new songs – Disconnected and Grace – which went down well.

He also threw in a track called Help Me by Jody Mitchell.

But classics like Your Game and Leave Right Now, which ended the set, got the crowd waving along.

Three people keen to get the best view of the heart-throb dashed past security guards for a fleeting glance from the disabled platform before they were ushered away.

I wouldn’t go that far in the future but I’d recommend you see him in action.

There's such a buzz around Will at these festivals. Julie has posted that she googled Will at V and came up with 118 different articles and there are loads that have picked up the Press Association article and Will's photo. :o :yahoo:

Sorry chrysalis I forgot & copied the link from Devoted instead of copying the URL. Can you access the article now?

Yes I can now - thanks TT. Good write-up from a very non-fan - shows it can be done, and done politely (note to those other non-fan reporters). There really must be a buzz about Will, which has attracted non-Will fans as well, and I hope they were as impressed as this guy. His comment "I was keen to see what all the fuss is about" says it all.

Thanks for bringing that over TT, it's a good article and it's great to know that Will creates such a buzz, we all know why of course, but others who wouldn't normally go to see Will perform, are finding out why as well now. :D

Fantastic review - no sycophantic slush - someone won over by the man. He'll never be a 'fan' by his own admission but to recommend you check him out is praise well worth having.

Softly softly catchee monkee.

Thanks for bringing it over TT.

Does anyone know if we have any fans at Stafford today. I think Ch4 will show the bands from Stafford today. We'll have the pleasure of seeing ms Whinehouse - deep joy

I agree he's impressing those who in the past wouldn't give him the time of day. At last they are taking off the blinkers. :yahoo:

I think Sarah Bigfan & he brother Laurie are there today. Maybe Bumbling.

THE THINGS THEY SAY 682

"I enjoyed the nude scene, it's opened up the nudist in me. I walk around my house naked now. I had extensive willy training for the role which helped." Singer/actor WILL YOUNG talks about his naked role in new movie MISS HENDERSON PRESENTS.

What is he like!

Lovely pics of Will coming in from V as well.

Will Young dedicates Joni Mitchell song to Mickey Mouse

Singer pulls out all his hits Will Young played an early evening slot at today’s (August 17) V Festival

The pop singer, who has been a regular on the festival circuit over the summer, took to the Union stage at 6.20pm (BST) to thunderous applause.

Wearing a beige trilby hat and Mickey Mouse jumper Young was backed by full band, including a duo of male and female singers, for his lively jazz infused set - which saw him dancing all over the stage.

The crowd clapped and danced along for the whole gig which included hits such as ’Your Game’, ’Changes’ and ’Leave Right Now’.

Then just before playing his new track, ’Grace’, Young, referring to his jumper, joked: “I'm very sweaty underneath here.”

The crowd cheered in response before Young launching into his next song, a cover of Joni Mitchell’s ’Help Me’, and said: “It's dedicated to Mickey.”

Young closed on his biggest anthem, ’Leave Right Now’, to thunderous applause.

Thanks to Bren. From the Daily Star.

"ORIGINAL IDOL WILL YOUNG WON OVER THE CROWD ON THE VIRGIN MOBILE UNION STAGE WITH A BEAMING GRIN AND NEW SINGLE CHANGES"

It also says in another part "Meanwhile Will Young, 29, knocked on the dressing room door of Dodgems to congratulate them on their turn on the Virgin Mobile Union Stage"

Thanks TT  i think that beaming grin as been stuck on his face since promotion started
