They are two polite and well mannered boys who do you proud. It was a pleasure to meet them both - and you of course

That was a cropped version of my front page for 2005

RAH...yes I remember seeing some footage. His songs sounded great, especially Devil In You, backed by the orchestra.

He sounded even better singing 'I've Got You Under My Skin' at the aftershow party that year. I only had my little camera and the vid was very dark - I'm glad I caught it though.

It was the first time I heard him with a Jazz band. I'm not into jazz but his voice does suit it.

He sings those songs so easily and with so much style and that was apparent as early as the PI tour.

I get angry when I think about about all that emphasis on "Darius struggles to get into the rhythm" in the video that introduced his appearance on the Big Band show. How did he suddenly become the one with most feel for the songs of that era? Frankly I can't believe he had any more problems than the others but it was certainly made to look that way.

The same was true when it came to the recording sessions. He was shown doubting whether he could sing the song in the key obviously chosen for Gareth but there was no similar footage of Will when he asked to have the arrangement rewritten in a more suitable key. Darius was only shown singing without accompaniment in the early stages of rehearsal unlike the other two.

They could still do add ins to make him look bad. It shows how good he is that he's still here. It's such a shame that people still take the attitudes towards him as being true.

That's one prediction Nigel Lythgoe got spot on - Darius is a survivor.

Unfortunately, not everyone has D's determination and stamina. Lots a very talented young musicians and singers were chewed up and spat out by Popstars and Pop Idol. Apart from Noel and Kym I wouldn't have chosen those 5. Maybe if they were going to write their own stuff, I'd have included Myleene but Danny and Suzanne always seemed very middle of the bunch on Popstars.

There's such a stigma attached to reality TV now and it's unfair that the kids from the original programmes are tarred with it. It was all very new back then. They entered for a laugh or just to see what professionals would think of them. Some of them like Darius didn't even apply for the "fly on the wall documentary" themselves and like him, didn't really know what it was all about until they were already through the first audition.

I wish there'd been no Popstars or Pop Idol but there had been myspace when D was at uni. He had some great songs all ready - Mockingbird and Colourblind. He would have been accepted and no doubt signed as a singer/songwriter not tweenie fodder.

What happened has happened and without it Darius may not be the man he is.

He has had a lot of sucess and happiness and is, as he says starting another chapter....lets look forward to it

...just hope it's not too long in coming...... :D

I can't believe it. I don't know where this month has gone. Maybe it's because it's been such good weather or because I didn't really get back into "normal" life until the 10th or so.
