TALKS are under way to create a Beatles-themed video game as part of a multi-million pound deal.

Two rival companies are believed to be competing for the lucrative deal, Activision, makers of Guitar Hero, and MTV Games, responsible for Rock Band.

Both games allow users to download and play new music on a regular basis, although tracks bought for the game cannot be transferred to a portable MP3 player or computer.

If the deal goes ahead, it could also pave the way for a broader licensing of the Beatles’ unrivalled back catalogue.

Yes,

I think the time has come for the Beatles to be less precious about their back catalogue & legacy.

You only have to look at youngsters who are more likely to buy Queen's Greatest Hits 1-3 or Abba's Gold as their first old album than The Beatles' 1.

In short I think they are losing out as Queen & Abba seem to be happy "whoring" their music more than The Beatles.

I agree, a whole new generation is there if only they embrace it. Don't think it will happen soon though.
