The first single, "It's Amazing," was featured on the soundtrack to the "Sex and the City" movie. The press release states that Jem co-wrote the album with a variety of people including Jeff Bass, Lester Mendez and Greg Kurstin and sings in Japanese on the track, "Aciiid!". The album also includes a collaboration with South African singer-songwriter and poet-activist Vusi Mahlasela on the track “You Will Make It” recalling 9/11, and dealing with the suffering of loss. 1. July 9, 200817 yr 24 should have been a single... Too bad she (her management?) decided to promote "24" on the trailer of Ultraviolet movie instead of releasing as a single (with a music video)
July 9, 200817 yr Her last album's single choices were among the worst ever. What about '24' and 'Come On Closer'? Fools. Anyway, she's an extraordinary talent and I can't wait for this album.
July 9, 200817 yr Is she really an 'extraordinary talent'? :heehee: She's a nice-looking girl with good-ish songs (sometimes) who can write well, but she's not really all that special...her voice is rather average too. I do love 'They' and 'Wish I', but she's so hit-and-miss. 'Its Amazing' is terrible just for being so painfully average. Such an awkward song, and totally NOT comeback material in the slightest...
July 9, 200817 yr Yes she bloody is!  You need to hear the last album in full to understand why though, especially the likes of '24', 'Come On Closer', 'Finally Woken' etc. In addition, she wrote that Madonna song you love; 'Nothing Fails'. :P
July 9, 200817 yr I do own her debut album :P It was rather patchy and forgettable. And yes, she's a good song-writer, I'll give her that. ^_^
July 9, 200817 yr Author Her last album's single choices were among the worst ever. What about '24' and 'Come On Closer'? Fools. Anyway, she's an extraordinary talent and I can't wait for this album. I think the problem was the record company or maybe her, released the more commericial poppy tracks. Stuff that had more chance of being a hit. Whereas pretty much nearly every track on the album is better than "Just A Ride" and "Wish I" imo... I think she really mixes genre's so well. The singles were really poppy tbh, the album had a haunting trip-hop kinda feel i think. "It's Amazing" is pretty average until the last minute and a half. That electro verse is just absolutely immense
July 11, 200817 yr Oh my god, her music is boring and don't get me started on "they" video, it looks like "put yourself in my place" by Kylie!
July 11, 200817 yr Oh my god, her music is boring boring? how can her music be boring when her songs are so diverse? there's a bit of everything on Jem's debut album (a bit of rock, folk, trip hop, reggae, sampled classical instruments) if you consider that boring it's your problem... and don't get me started on "they" video, it looks like "put yourself in my place" by Kylie! come on! never heard the 60s movie Barbarella (with Jane Fonda)? both videos took the idea from the opening sequence of this movie "They" music video is FAR superior to Kylie's video (very cheesy). "They" is a top class video, very well produced. BTW there are two versions of "They" video... Edited July 11, 200817 yr by Alin
July 11, 200817 yr Was never crazy about her and her debut but It's Amazing is great and im very exited about the album.
July 12, 200817 yr not releasing '24' as the first single is the reason why Jem was not as successful as Dido...
August 17, 200816 yr Author http://c.ilike.com/w/0187/389/0187389941_m.jpg Album cover. "On Top Of The World" leaked also. Tis quite a nice song a nice closing track for the album I reckon ^_^ Release has been confirmed for September 18th too. She really needs to start pushing the first single pretty soon if this is to go anywhere. Here's a mini review/interview about the new album: http://www.musicremedy.com/j/Jem/album/Dow...Earth-5661.html Edited August 17, 200816 yr by Ryan
August 17, 200816 yr Horrifically amateur album cover. She looks like Maggie Gyllenhaal there though, which is good. ^_^
August 17, 200816 yr If that release date is correct, that means the single will be out in less than a month. Argh, I knew this project would go t*ts up.
