Posted June 1, 200619 yr See this legendary performance in Dublin here! It got a measley 18 points though! Nowadays this would be a strong contender for the title! [flash=450,350]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sqs6M5GacnE.swf
June 2, 200619 yr Oh my god-I've never seen that before Kudos for Iceland for often being controversial but I can see why the juries didn't go for that one (televoters would though :-) Did the 18 points come from the 5 televoting countries of 1997 or just Denmark lol...

June 2, 200619 yr 6 from the UK...that doesn't surprise me...we like a good laugh and we were televoting too...
June 2, 200619 yr Author 6 from the UK...that doesn't surprise me...we like a good laugh and we were televoting too... Yes, the UK, Sweden, Austria, Germany and Switzerland all televoted. Three gave points to Iceland!
June 2, 200619 yr The judges were really out of touch...I'm guessing Ireland would not have won 4 times (and certainly not in 1996) if it wasn't for the juries...

Televoting would have been good in 1996/97 - the United Kingdom would have won hands down on both occasions. 1998 I think was about right but now I reckon juries should be brought back...
June 3, 200619 yr I know...I still think televoting is a good idea but I suppose they never saw the block voting coming :-( I'm surprised Imaani came 2nd in 1998 with almost complete televoting. I suppose if you have a good enough song (eg. Jessica Garlick) the uk can still do well...

Yeah, let's be honest, apart from Daz  - the only songs to have come close to Gina G and Katrina are Imaani and Jessica Garlick - they both did well. However I thought Nicki French was very good too -_- but I suppose it has to be something that is gonna be well received by all of Europe - which Daz and Nicki aren't, yet Imaani and Jessica are.
