Jackson misses drummer's funeral

Jackson has spent most of his time in Bahrain since his trial

Michael Jackson and sister Janet stayed away from the funeral of an ex-Jackson Five drummer, who died in a stabbing.

The pair did not join five family members in attending the service in Indiana for Johnny Jackson, who played with the band for 15 years.

Youngest brother Randy Jackson said the drummer, who was not a relation, had "made touring fun". "He had a lively way of living," Jackson said.

Yolanda Davis, 44, was charged with murder following Mr Jackson's death.

Randy Jackson, who was taught to drum by Mr Jackson, said the late musician had "enjoyed every moment".

"There was never a dull moment, with jokes and a lot of laughs," he added.

Chart success

Tito Jackson and brothers Marlon, Jermaine and Jackie attended the service for the 55-year-old.

Mr Jackson was found dead with a stab wound to his chest at his home in Gary, Indiana, on 1 March.

He replaced the group's original drummer in 1967 and lived with the family after their move from Indiana to Los Angeles in 1969.

The group, fronted by Michael Jackson, had a string of hits including I Want You Back, ABC and The Love You Save.
