Posted July 17, 200817 yr Girls Aloud are to star in a teen soap set in the music biz. The fab five – Cheryl Cole, 25, Sarah Harding, 26, Nadine Coyle, 23, Kimberley Walsh, 26, and Nicola Roberts, 22 – will feature in The Secret World Of Sam King. A source close to the girls said: “They’re all really excited – it promises to be a lot of fun. They’ve made a lot of really cool videos and appeared in the St Trinians film last year. “But this is the first time they’ve had the chance to show off their acting talents. It’s no secret that several of the girls harbour ambitions to get into acting and this will prove a great showcase.” The Secret World Of Sam King will initially go out exclusively to users of teen social networking site Bebo. It is set at the group’s record company Universal and has a potential worldwide audience of 42million under the age of 24. And sources claim the show could eventually switch to a terrestrial or digital station. A Universal Records insider added: “Girls Aloud are one of our biggest acts, and, along with others, will be making a tongue-in-cheek debut in Sam King. “The girls love stuff like Bebo and are really looking forward to filming.” The Secret World Of Sam King revolves around a postroom kid at the record label who has big ideas. He’s like a young Simon Cowell – brilliant at spotting talent – who secretly sets up his own office at the back of a stationery cupboard and manages to turn new bands into the next big thing. Our insider added: “Every adventure finds the main characters interacting with artists who play themselves.” By the way we also know that Nicola and Kimberley will appear in ITV new soap High Brittania!
